Position Overview:

The CNC Operator I is responsible for completing CNC machining tasks under immediate supervision.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Perform basic CNC machining tasks: milling, finishing, material handling
  • Operate CNC machine and equipment of limited complexity
  • Read production paperwork and follow production instructions and processes
  • Transport parts of fixtures
  • Retrieve and store materials from storage
  • Prepare material blocks for CNC milling and finishing operations
  • Clean and maintain milling machine centers - emptying chip bins, clean out chip debris, replenish coolant, maintain accurate lubricant
  • Support CNC operations with cleaning, filling, emptying, wiping, mopping
  • Adhere to all quality and safety standards within the department
  • Maintain clean and organized work area with emphasis on safety, quality, efficiency, and utilization
  • Continually seek to improve work processes and individual performance
  • Adhere to all company policies and operational procedures
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to learn one or more machining tasks: milling, finishing, material handling
  • Ability to help out and be productive where needed
  • Ability to work safely with cleaning and other resources
  • Positive and helpful attitude
  • Ability to use chemicals in accordance with safety standards
  • Ability to use measuring instruments such as scales and calipers
  • Ability to use a computer and calculator
  • Able to work safely with sharp tools/objects, such as but not limited to, hobby knives, utility knives, diagonal-cutting pliers
  • Able to read and write in English, and do basic arithmetic
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment
  • Able to be punctual and have good attendance
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • No experience required, limited to no knowledge of CNC functional areas required

Education Requirement:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Physical Demands:

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and/or sit for the entire shift; use a computer keyboard, monitor and mouse, telephone and printer; reaching, bending, grasping, The employee must occasionally lift, carry, and/or move up to 70 pounds.

Work Environment:

Indoors (A/C); nonsmoking; the majority of this job function is performed in a manufacturing setting requiring normal safety precautions (eye protection and hearing protection). Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
