JOB DESCRIPTION: The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: 

•      Armed Security Guard shall provide protection for all personnel and property from crimes of violence, theft, sabotage, or customer or crowd disturbances.
•      The guard will be stationed in the office/waiting area where customers will be waiting in line to get animal health papers endorsed for animals traveling overseas.  This function of having the guard posted in the office/waiting area will be crowd control to keep an orderly atmosphere so the office personnel can conduct their functions without concentrating on the crowd in general. The guard shall continually stand guard and be alert to the waiting customers. The crowd must be observed and a continuous order of the waiting line and crowd must be maintained.  
•      The guard shall also perform checks of the parking lot on an occasional basis and as directed in the post orders.
•      Twice per day the guard shall perform a foot patrol of the perimeter of the building as directed in the post orders.  
•      In cooperation with local authorities the guard shall establish procedures to deal with crowd control, disturbed persons and other such situations that may arise in this office setting.  Any problems concerns that need immediate attention will be brought to the attention of a USDA employee in the office were the guard is posted.
•      Each guard is expected to adhere to standards of competency, conduct, appearance and integrity that reflect credit to himself/herself, the Contractor and the Federal Government. The guards shall treat visitors and staff with courtesy and respect.  

JOB REQUIREMENTS: You must possess ALL the following:

•     Must have CA Armed Permit, Weapon registered in licensee name, Military Experience
•     Any combination of two years of experience in either physical security (as a security officer-armed or unarmed) and/or service with the United States Armed Forces (to include Reserves or National Guard components); Associate’s Degree in Security or Law Enforcement related field; or Successful completion of a police officer’s basic training academy.
•     Trained and experienced for the requirements for security armed guards in the State of California. Armed guards shall have a current permit issued by the State of California to carry weapons. A copy of the license shall be provided to the Contracting Officer Representative and Contracting Officer.
•     Hair shall be clean and neat.  Uncovered hear must not fall below either eyebrow.  No hair ornaments permitted.  Items to hold hair in place are allowable if concealed as much as possible and are a color that blends with the hair.
•     Piercings cannot interfere with successful task performance.
•     Visible tattoos cannot expose obscene or offensive material.
•     In good physical condition and health without physical and psychological defects or abnormalities which would interfere with the performance of contract duties.  The following minimum medical and physical standards for an Armed Security Officer shall be evidenced by report of medical examination, which is certified by a licensed physician within 12 months of the date for receipt of offers. The examination should provide a reasonable indication of the applicant’s or incumbent’s ability to remain on their feet for long hours, conduct roving foot patrols, climb and descend stairs and hills, and respond to an emergency by quickly reporting to the scene on foot and having the ability to apprehend suspects or violators while also protecting themselves and others.
