Position Title: Crew Member

 

Reports to the Team Leader or Manager on duty.

 

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: Implementing the restaurant plan in order to meet established operating standards, sales and profits. This is accomplished primarily through: performing the work functions in the Seven Basic Stations as needed; effectively implementing the local store marketing plans; working in a manner that helps to control costs and providing every customer with outstanding service. Works in a manner that is consistent and in compliance with the Pancheros Mexican Grill Operations Manual. As well as the restaurants standard operations systems, policies and procedures.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The fundamental responsibilities and job duties include:

Customer Service: At Pancheros, the customers’ needs are our top priority. The crew member works in a manner which complies with all systems, policies, procedures and standards. Performs all assigned duties in a manner that results in excellent customer service. Follows the Pancheros standards and consistently displays the importance of placing the customers’ needs first. Respectfully responds to customer complaints and reports complaints to the restaurant manager on duty, General Manager, or District Manager. Be able to read or understand the communication of documents such as operating manuals, procedure manuals and employee handbook written in English. Must be able to understand and speak fluently in English.

People: Assists in the training and orientation of crew members by providing new crew members with thorough training in, but not limited to: sales and customer service; food preparation and service stations; quality and safety requirements, cleanliness and restaurants policies. Monitors the restaurants working environment for potential employee morale issues and reports issues to general manager, District manager. Communicates professionally and respectfully with other crew members and management, relays information with accuracy and in alignment with the restaurants philosophies and policies. Presents a professional, well-groomed appearance, wears the appropriate crew member uniform consistent with duties as assigned, and complies with the drive-in personal appearance and hygiene standards.

Quality: Performs all duties in the 7 basic work positions in a way that insures that preparation, temperature, packaging, appearance, presentation, taste and service of all food or drink items meet or exceed the customer’s expectation and the standard set forth in the operations manual and other restaurant policies or procedure guidelines. Cleans the restaurant dining room, front line, rest rooms, and back kitchen areas to meet or exceed customer expectations and operational standards for cleanliness and sanitation. Works effectively with all utility, food and service vendors. Uses methods of operation that insures that all products, processes and systems are in compliance with federal and state regulations for sanitation, cleanliness, safety and security.

Safety: Promotes a safe work place for management, other crew members and customers. Works in a manner that insures all safety and security laws, policies and procedures are followed without exception. Uses safe working methods for food handling, sanitation, cash handling, equipment use and maintenance, and demonstrates safe work practices in general. Uses designated safety equipment and wears clothing that is in compliance with the restaurants safety policies and OSHA standards. Reports all customer or employee work-related accidents and incidents to the manager on duty, general manager or District Manager immediately and accurately with 24 hours of the occurrence.

Cleanliness: Maintains and cleans the restaurant dining room, restrooms, front line, and back kitchen areas in accordance with company and health department standards. Practices safe handling of foods and effective sanitation techniques at all times, assuring that only safe products are served to the customer.

Marketing: Is familiar with and supports ongoing local store marketing and corporate-sponsored marketing programs and promotions. Effectively communicates the plan with other crew members and works in a manner that insures effective implementation.

Cost Controls: Is familiar with and works within the guidelines of the restaurants cost control plan. The cost control plan includes but is not limited to, controlling food, labor and paper costs, as well as cash handling, inventory and other controllable expenses.

Other: Performs other job related duties as may be assigned or required.

 

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: No educational requirements.

 

WORKING EXPERIENCE: Six months in retail or food service operations preferred, but not required.

 

UNIQUE SKILLS/ABILITES: The demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service. Must work effectively with supervisors have the ability to work with some degree of autonomy once given direction. Must possess a strong commitment to the restaurant quality and cleanliness standards of operation and quickly develop positive working relationships with crew and supervisors.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires considerable bending, stopping, lifting and stretching. Also requires the ability to work within the confined area of the front line and work under significant time constraints; such as, assembling food orders and providing guests with accurate change within a 2 minute time frame. Requires long periods of standing without a break and the ability to lift, push, or pull a maximum of 50 lb. Requires frequent immersing of hands in water to wash and rinse food and/or small wares. Requires ability to work scheduled hours that may include irregular hours, nights, weekends and holidays. Requires the ability to work between up to 40-60 hours per week.
