POSITION SUMMARY:

Work with the driver of the truck to assist in refuse collection

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

o Ride along with driver to help pick up refuse on route

o Read maps, diagrams and route sheet in order to follow a designated daily route

o Ability to operate controls and collection equipment

o Complete daily vehicle inspections, fueling and fluid level checks

o Complete required daily service tickets and reports

o Report any mechanical programs with equipment

o Complete daily reports, logs, load/yardage, and load ticket receipts

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

o Knowledge of safe work practices and proper use of safety equipment

o Knowledge of the uses and purposes of general construction tools and equipment

o Knowledge of company policies and procedures in assigned area of facility maintenance and construction

o Ability to work weekends

o Ability to enter and exit truck body through access door

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High School Diploma, GED and/or equivalent work experience

Years of Experience: One year of related Waste, distribution or transportation industry experience desired but not essential

Certifications: Currently possess or have ability to obtain a valid CDL (including air brake)

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE USED:

o Company information systems

o Vehicle diagnostic equipment

o Tools and equipment used to collection services

o Two way radio

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

o Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures

o May be exposed to solvents and chemicals, and refuse in trucks

o May be exposed to other risks associated with working around machines, tools, and trucks

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

o Ability to operate trucks and other equipment as needed

o Ability to frequently lift or carry containers, recycling bins, or loose materials to truck. Frequent lifting, twisting pulling, pushing, or bending may result depending on the material and collection vehicle type

o Ability to climb, bend or stand for an extended period of time. In addition, individuals must be able to reach above shoulders and lift a minimum of 50 pounds
