Hiring Two Technical Writers III - Full-time / Part-time

The Technical Writer Level III will be involved in various aspects of technical content development, maintenance, and distribution for G+D products. This individual will be expected to lead several projects and entails working with engineering, product managers, field engineers, technical instructors, and other subject matter experts to create user manuals, how-to procedures, training guides, and online eLearning training materials. The Technical Writer III will interpret complex electromechanical and software engineering language in a simplified manner to a diverse audience who may or may not be technically savvy. The Technical Writer III will also revise, update, and coordinate the progress of technical content materials documentation and eLearning materials from development to release while maintaining version control..

Work Environment:

Our client is located in Sterling, VA just outside of Dulles Airport. The office setting is very nice and they will be sitting directly with the engineering team which they will be supporting. There is currently 1 technical writer on staff who supports the management systems and the workload is overwhelming her which is causing the need for the rest of they year. This position will report directly to the Director of Engineering.

Qualifications:

• BA in Communications, English or related field of study, OR BA in any field with experience in a technical field
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Comfortable with Adobe Suite (Framemaker, Illustrator, Photoshop)
• Editing, proof reading, grammatical improvements

Nice to Have:

• German speaking is a plus
• Experience with or desire to learn eLearning authoring tools (such as Adobe Captivate or Camtasia) a plus

Performance Expectations:

These positions are expected to support the currency technology teams. they will need to self sufficient and be able to come in day 1 with the ability to lead a project to create training guides, manuals, elearning. They will also review and edit existing documents.
