Description:

MHS (MHS) currently has an active Gospel Choir of approximately 75 students.  The Choir performs regularly in the School's Sunday morning Chapel Services for over 1,000 attendees.  The Gospel Choir also travels and performs as an ambassador group for MHS to local churches and ministries.  This is an ancillary stipend part-time position.   The duties and responsibilities for the MHS Gospel Choir include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • preparing, rehearsing students for inspiring quality musical presentations
  • selection of appropriate music for venues
  • recruiting, training, & preparing accompanists for the Gospel Choir
  • communication of all Gospel Choir activities (rehearsals, performances, travel details, etc.) to appropriate entities both on and off campus
  • lead the Gospel Choir during all performances
  • mentor and develop students in the Gospel Choir, as well as inspire students to participate.

 



Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.  
  • Formal musical training a plus.
  • 3 or more years of experience as a Musical Director, preferably with a Gospel Choir.
  • Skilled in mentoring and developing youth.  Experience with low income students a plus.
  • Excellent communicator, including platform skills. 
  • Strong organizational skills including skills in planning and multi-tasking.
  • Available to work weekends for performances as well as afternoons and evenings for practices and performances. 
  • Candidates should demonstrate a high degree of integrity, as all MHS staff are considered to be role models for MHS students. 
  • Candidates must be willing to actively engage with students.
