CNC Mill / Lathe Machinist

Position: CNC Machinist Levels I, II, III, and IV (Mill/Lathe)
Primary responsibilities for this position:
-Properly setup and operate various CNC mills and CNC lathes to produce quality machined components
- Machining of complex parts within print tolerance
- Meet and exceed target efficiencies for part duration per work order traveler
- Provide feedback to Manufacturing Engineering regarding program accuracy and cycle time improvements
- Verify that supplied production documents meet the manufacturing requirements
- Verify that supplied raw material meets the dimensional and material type requirements to produce the specified part
- Train and mentor others in the department
- Performs duties independently or with minimum assistance
- Understands and adheres to all company health and safety procedures as they relate to essential job functions
- Report unsafe conditions and required maintenance to supervisor
- Track labor assigned to job(s)
- Keep work area clean and organized (5S)
- Service machine fluids as needed
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Required skills and abilities for this position:
- Properly operate CNC mills and/or CNC lathes and perform required machine operation
- Ability to read and write simple G and M Code language
- Ability to identify cutting tools by ISO name conventions
- Knowledge of speeds and feeds related to various material types
- Properly use precision measuring equipment
- Design and make simple work holding fixtures
- Must be able to read and comprehend work instructions, drawings, and blue prints
- Understand Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance and how it applies to part inspection
- Basic computer skills for time entry and document lookup
- Basic math skills to interpret drawings
- Strong attention to detail -- ability to articulate
- Acts as a team player, working closely with others in a demanding fast-paced environment to meet frequently changing production schedules
- Patience to perform precise task in repetitive operations

Minimum experience required for this position:
- Two (2) year's experience operating CNC mills and/or lathes; or one (1) year of vocational combined with (1) year practical experience
Required education for this position:
- High School Diploma; or General Education degree (GED) in addition to vocational training related to Machine Tool Techniques, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Physical demands associated with position:
- Ability to move throughout all areas of the plant
- Physically able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb,
- balance, crouch, handle and move items weighing up to 50 pounds without
assistance
- Stand and/or sit continuously and perform job functions for a full shift with meal breaks
- Able to wear all necessary personal protective equipment to perform job functions
