Air Import Supervisor - Full-time / Part-time

Very well-established freight forwarder located in Jamaica, NY seeks an Air Import Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervise the functions of all Air Import Agents inclusive of prioritizing work, determining schedules, assigning daily tasks, establishing or adjusting work procedures to meet changing demands and ensuring optimum efficiency.
• Report customer complaints and escalate shipping problems (i.e. delays, missing/damaged freight, rate disputes, etc.) to management plus actively participate in the resolution planning.
• Execute plans directed by management in regard to timeliness of work completion and billing, plus re-prioritizing of work flow in critical situations.
• Support the sales department with customer information and/or rates requirements.
• Maintain existing and/or implement new vendor relationships as they relate to Air Import shipments, including cost review and negotiation.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 5-7 years of Air Import experience required, and 2-4 years of previous supervisory experience required.
• Basic to intermediate experience using web-based operating system and Microsoft software applications required.
• Must have strong organizational and time management skills.
• Must be articulate and be able to present themselves in a professional manner when meeting with customers and/or vendors.
