JOB SUMMARY

 

The BMSC Consulting department provides high-quality consulting and strategic leadership for all departments/disciplines across BMSC.  This Sr. Director, BMSC HR Consulting role is a dedicated resource for BMSC Human Resources responsible for supporting BMSC HR initiatives (e.g. Cobrand incentive strategy, Associate Earn) and will have a dual reporting relationship into the VP, BMSC Consulting and the VP, BMSC HR, who will be the primary stakeholder for this position.  The Sr. Director will work across the organization to produce results on projects and activities and may include formulating strategy, conducting industry research and analysis, design/reengineering business processes, project management, change management and measurement.  The position will actively collaborate with Executive Stakeholders on projects and clients may include Senior Executives and Vice Presidents for any department/business within Marriott International.  This position may supervise indirect reports to complete studies and related client assignments.

 
Managing Consulting Engagements
  • Provides day-to-day project management support to ensure engagements are delivered on time and on budget and achieves client satisfaction with project delivery and business results. 
  • Assists clients with strategy formulation efforts, including necessary research, analysis and development of data-driven recommendations. 
  • Provides process re-engineering services, including facilitation of design sessions, documentation of processes, and identification of improvements. 
  • Creates high-impact deliverables to communicate project results. 
  • Develops change management strategies to implement project recommendations and affect change. 
  • Measures, evaluates and reports the key results of the implemented solutions and captured benefits.
 
 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

 

Education and Experience Required

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 10 years’ experience in the business, sales and marketing, management operations, or related professional area.
 
 

Experience Preferred

  • Prior consulting experience
  • Major consulting firm experience
  • Prior consulting experience supporting an HR Practice, Organizational Design, Compensation
 

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

 
Managing Projects and Priorities
  • Plan and implement global BMSC HR initiatives with minimal oversight, working with leaders to meet project objectives and goals on time and on budget
  • Support transformational projects working across functions and disciplines to meet objectives
  • Determines priorities and identifies timelines and necessary resources to ensure active engagement and on-time completion of project initiatives.
  • Partners with stakeholders to establish project structure and timelines/milestones.
  • Obtains alignment with BMSC HR leadership and oversees the project management efforts, including developing plans and deliverables, identifying opportunities, securing required funding, responding to resource needs, reporting on the process/progress to senior management, and resolving/raising issues where appropriate.
  • Provides recommendations to improve the effectiveness of processes or programs.
  • Leads baseline assessment work to inform project prioritization and funding to achieve effective pull-through of Global BMSC HR initiatives. 
  • Defines specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.
  • Guides on-going financial and business analysis support to leadership to support strategic decision making using the appropriate approaches, systems and resources.
  • Delivers presentations related to the strategic roadmap development and execution to key stakeholders.
  • Actively engages internal partners (e.g. change management and communications, human resources, legal) to prepare content for communication materials as needed for deployment of discipline initiatives. 
  • Analyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.  Fosters a positive climate to build effective project teams that are committed to organizational goals and initiatives.

  • Establishes clear performance expectations and provides team with support needed to meet or exceed expectations.
  • Interviews job candidates and assists in making hiring decisions.
  • Promotes adherence to policies consistently, follows disciplinary procedures and documents items according to Standard and Local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs) and supports the Peer Review Process.
  • Conducts annual performance appraisal with direct reports according to Standard Operating Procedures.
