Marketing Category Manager - Beer and Package Beverage Categories, including wine and liquor:
This is a field position, requiring daily travel to meetings at vendor sites (including Pepsi, Coke, Dr. Pepper, AB Distributors, MillerCoors Distributors, Glazers, Major Brands, and many others), Wallis offices, and Wallis Convenience Stores (Mobil On the Run, Dirt Cheap, U-Gas, Mobil Mart). When not in the field, Marketing Category Manager will work from their own home office.

The Beer and Package Beverage Category Manager is responsible for ensuring extraordinary execution of the marketing category, including proprietary, branded and all other items included in the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) definition. Position will facilitate growth and development of assigned categories with Store Managers, Retail Operations leadership, and Wallis Companies vendors and strategic product partners by focusing on safety, financial metrics and follow up to ensure flawless execution throughout organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Analyze product sales and gross profit dollar returns and constantly work to increase the offering and the profitability of the offering.
Manage assigned categories to ensure the best merchandising and financial results.
Oversee inventory levels and labor expenditures and ensure leadership is informed of exceptions.
Document agreements with vendors and inspect performance to ensure that both Mobil and Franchisees receive everything that has been agreed.
Monthly communication of financial results to the Store Managers, Retail Operations leadership team and Director of Merchandising.
Ensure effective communication systems are established so front line associates know how to execute category marketing program including but not limited to shelf lives, rotation schedules, product ordering, build to quantities and display expectations.
Ensure product promotions are properly implemented and executed; Responsible for ensuring locations are priced according to the company’s pricing strategies.
Ensure that advertising, promotions and public relations are aligned with company culture, mission and vision.
Consistently evaluate and create new goals and incentives for the Retail Operations group and challenge locations to raise their own acceptable standards of performance; Continuously benchmark company results against top quartile in industry; Ensure proper tracking systems are set up for sales and profitability; Responsible for maintaining software data to ensure retails and authorized items are correct.
Assist with store openings, grand openings and remodels that are related to category.
Ensure compliance of employees with policies, procedures and standards regarding Beer and Packaged Beverage category.
Ensure appropriate category equipment is properly ordered and maintained.

Requirements

Job Requirements
EDUCATION: High School Diploma required; Strong preference for completed Bachelor's Degree in Marketing

EXPERIENCE: 3-5+ years prior experience in retail / convenience store industry required; Strong preference for experience specifically with Beer and Packaged Beverage marketing or merchandising.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT SKILLS:
Computer, Microsoft Office Suite (primarily MS Outlook and MS Excel), Internet navigation
Phone, Copier/Printer/Fax
Reliable personal vehicle, valid driver's license, auto insurance

OTHER SKILLS:
Strong communication - both written and verbal
Ability to motivate employees and vendors to provide outstanding quality, consistency and convenience to the customer
Willingness to work unusual hours due to business events or category demands
Full understanding of the Beer and Package Beverage marketing areas to determine the best product mix and how to deliver what the customer wants.
Excellent organizational, time management; ability to work alone and with a team
Knowledge of government requirements for Beer and Packaged Beverage category
