Overview

This position is for a business analyst on the World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program. The analyst will be responsible for supporting the medical code change control process and developing medical audits.

Responsibilities

  • Understands and applies business process design techniques
  • Participates in gathering business requirements
  • Defines, models and interprets data
  • Gains the confidence of the client and Karna staff and builds strong relationships
  • Participates in work groups and delivers formal presentations to the client and Karna staff
  • Develops and maintains process documentation
  • Works in coordination with the Karna Medical Advisors to develop medical audit reports
    • Runs MicroStrategy reports
    • Analyzes data in Excel
    • Develops charts and graphs from the data
    • Records the medical audit findings
    • Presents findings to the client
  • Develops business requirements for MicroStrategy reports and communicates them to Technical Operations staff
  • Updates and maintains the medical Codebook in a Microsoft Access database
    • Adds new diagnosis and procedure codes on a weekly basis
    • Runs quality assurance queries on a weekly basis, and resolves any issues
    • Creates and publishes the full Codebook in an Excel and PDF format on a monthly basis
    • Updates the Microsoft Access database to incorporate new client or internal team requirements
    • Maintains all process documentation
  • Supports the medical code change control process
    • Records code requests in a SharePoint database
    • Responds to code email requests
    • Provides information on codes received, pending and processed on a weekly basis for the Program Dashboard
    • Develops weekly Change Requests to add new diagnosis and procedure codes
    • Performs quality assurance checks on medical code change control spreadsheets as well as on Change Requests
    • Maintains program documentation
  • Supports the Provider Enrollment team
    • Enrolls medical providers
    • Reviews and resolves issues with medical claims pended for provider issues
  • Participates in a weekly internal staff meeting and a weekly client meeting
  • Performs ad hoc research and participates in ad hoc meetings on client and internal staff requests


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Zero to three years of work experience in business analysis and process modeling, preferably in clinical analytics in a healthcare program
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access preferred
  • Knowledge of MicroStrategy preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Visio preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work in a team and independently
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance
