DISTRIBUTION CENTER / WAREHOUSE / TRANSPORTATION INTERN

ROANOKE DISTRIBUTION CENTER -- Roanoke, TX

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Learn to lead, coach, and supervise warehouse personnel to attain specific goals and measurable results.

- Observe managing daily warehouse operations to service the needs of retail stores within department budget.

- Communicate effectively with employees as requested and to hold them accountable.

- Will teach and maintain informed of Federal, State, Municipal laws, regulations, and company work rules regarding warehouse operation of company.

- Ensure departmental compliance with, OSHA.

- Work closely with Warehouse Superintendent, Supervisors, hourly associates, drivers, and retail personnel to implement cost saving measures.

- Determine equipment and manpower requirements for daily operational needs.

- Aggressively cultivate and promote a positive and innovative work environment.

- Maintain a high level of customer service.

- Set and monitor warehouse performance targets both short and long term.

- Ensure policies, procedures and practices are strictly adhered to, including appropriate audit, controls and segregation of duties are in place to support Sarbanes Oxley compliance.

- Observe hiring and development of warehouse staff and team members towards attainment of their potential.

- Observe and at times may participate in working with Regulator Agencies.

- Assist with Capital development, cost estimation and management as needed.

- Learn about cost reductions and participate in ideas to increase productivity.

- Learn warehouse management system EXE, COM, and Engineered Labor Standards.

- Learn and assist with financial analysis and review and analyze existing cost data.

 

Qualifications: The following are preferred or desired unless specifically stated:

- Able to work with warehouse supervision to improve supervisory skills.

- Well-developed analytical and computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access.

- Ability to empower, supervise and direct a diverse workforce.

- Ability to hire, develop, evaluate, train, coach staff and associates

- Strong communication skills and ability to build direct relationships with hourly associates.

- Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility.

- Ability to hold employees accountable for working safely and providing a safe work environment.

- Strong interpersonal and team building skills.

- Excellent customer service focus, results oriented.

- Must be comfortable giving and receiving open feedback.

- Willingness to work flexible hours to include afternoons and nights, weekends, and holidays required.
