Certified Pharmacy Technician

Job Responsibilities

As a Certified Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining productivity and quality standards as well as legal and company compliance as you enter in new prescriptions and assist in the preparation of prescriptions.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Assists the Pharmacist in filling prescription items, as permitted by the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Receiving new written prescription or refill requests and verify that information is complete and accurate
  • Ability to interpret physicians' orders into the computerized med. order system.
  • Establishing or maintaining accurate patient profiles, including lists of medications taken by individual patients
  • Ability to perform drug calculations and interpret prescriptions.
  • Maintains controlled-drug medication records, assist in the filling of patient prescriptions and prepare unit-dose medications all under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Maintaining proper storage and security conditions for drugs
  • Answering telephones, responding to questions or requests
  • Processes (corrects and resubmits) manual insurance claims for third party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner
  • Pre-packaging bulk medicines, filling bottles with prescribed medications, and typing and affixing labels
  • Labels products appropriately, including cautionary or auxiliary labels.
  • Takes inventory, places orders, checks in drugs and supplies, stocks shelves and removes out-of-date items from the inventory
  • Cleaning and helping to maintain equipment or work areas according to prescribed methods
  • Assisting customers by answering simple questions, locating items, or referring them to the pharmacist for medication information
  • Receiving and storing incoming supplies, verifying quantities against invoices, checking for outdated medications in current inventory, and informing supervisors of stock needs and shortages
  • Processes returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction.
  • Communicates with all customers in a pleasant and professional manner
  • Performs other tasks as assigned
  • Assists with special projects as needed.
  • Supports location, departmental goals, and the overall objectives of the Company.
  • Complies with all laws, regulations and standards of ethical conduct.

  • Area: Must be able to work in the Richardson, Garland, Plano, Texas area
  • Licensure Requirements: Must have valid, open and active Texas license. PTCB certification required
  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Years of Experience: 2 + years of Pharmacy Retail and Data Entry Experience
  • Schedule: Weekdays and Weekends, Full Time
  • Length of Assignment: Temporary, Temporary to Permanent
  • Pay: Depending on Experience
  • Background/ Drug Requirements: Ability to successfully complete background check and drug screen
