Quality Supervisor

The Quality Supervisor is accountable for providing leadership and oversight to the quality and sanitation functions in order to assure product conformance to specification, food safety, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), and Good Laboratory Practices. Accountable for sanitation requirements for machinery, equipment and facilities and develops and maintains sanitation programs and procedures, collaborates with engineers, suppliers, contractors and plant partners to ensure a clean and sterile facility. This position provides leadership in compliance with the Quality & Sanitation programs and practices.

Position Shift and Schedule This is a full time permanent position working on our 2nd shift. Our 2nd shift typically works Monday through Friday 2:00pm until 11:00pm. Flexibility to work overtime and weekends is required as the business needs.

Position Responsibilities
  1. Assist the Quality Manager and provide direct supervision for the coordination and maintenance of all company quality and food safety standards.
  2. Along with the Quality Manager, liaise with internal and external auditors during Quality, Food Safety and Regulatory audits.
  3. Monitor and ensure the performance of Quality Staff to ensure operational and regulatory compliance.
  4. Responsible for full implementation of all Quality initiatives to reduce wastes associated with sampling process flow, batching procedures, and sanitation procedures.
  5. Perform administrative functions such as scheduling Quality staff to ensure 100% support to operation, perform SAP transactions, and ordering of lab and sanitation materials.
  6. Ensure accuracy of all aspects of the master sanitation schedule are maintained and updated.
  7. Monitor and enforce proper sanitation and housekeeping procedures.
  8. Monitor production schedules and requirements in terms of quality & safety.
  9. Supervise accurate and timely reporting of work in progress and completes all relevant paperwork and management reporting.
  10. Work within approved operating expense budget, ensure sufficient operating supplies and capital equipment are available for department personnel to operate as scheduled. Recommend corrections to budget as production needs require.
  11. Manage processes to ensure sanitation and microbiological specifications, quality, and safety standards are maintained.
  12. Review, evaluate, counsel, and discipline employees as necessary to ensure department meets or exceeds productivity requirements.
  13. Assist with training and cross training to assure that all quality and sanitation tasks are met within budget, product specifications, quality requirements, and safety standards.
  14. Assist with calibration and validation programs for all Quality Lab instrumentation.
  15. Assist with data analysis to include statistical analysis of laboratory and quality system data which include but not limited to market score reports, consumer complaints, nonconforming products, SPC (IQS) data, yield data, and audit results.
  16. Assist with determining data trends and implement improvement to processes and/or procedures to improve KPI’s associated with Quality.
  17. Assist with special projects or assignments specifically directed by Quality Manager which may include new product launches (Batch Maker, IQS, Micro Blend), traceability and recall, consumer complaint investigation, 5S, etc.

Qualifications

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • 2 years of experience in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical or chemical industry
  • 2 years of supervisory experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment
  • 2 years of experience working with quality management systems, lab instruments, sanitation, or quality assurance in a manufacturing environment
  • 2 years of experience working with Microsoft Office programs
