We are currently looking for an Overnight Veterinary Technician to work alongside our experienced doctors, technicians and CSRs to offer the best in patient care and client communication. We require an experienced Veterinary Technician who is self-motivated and capable of working on their own overnight.

Responsibilities:
• Hospitalized Patients: Care for all hospitalized patients, follow Dr.’s SOAP’s to create nursing notes for each patient, administer treatments, monitor patient attitude, monitor pain score
• Knowledge: familiarity with surgical procedures and diseases, common treatment plans and medications, ability to respond to urgent and emergency patients by performing CPR, placing IV catheters, administering emergency medications, oxygen therapy, etc., be able to identify various symptoms as they relate to hospitalized and/or urgent cases such as difficulty breathing, seizures, pain control, pain management and more, knowledge of surgical and critical patient monitoring,
• Diagnostics: draw blood for in-house bloodwork, heartworm tests, glucose checks, ACT and more, obtain urine & fecal samples for analysis, perform in-house urinary analysis, prepare samples for outside analysis, take radiographs, assist with ultrasounds
• Boarders: help care for boarding pets, offer food and water, clean kennels, administer medications
• Cleaning: maintain general cleanliness of the hospital, use proper cleaning, disinfection and sterilization protocols
• Documentation: keep accurate and detailed records about patients and boarders in written patient charts and in Avimark
• Communication: maintain excellent lines of communication with clients, CSRs, other technicians, management and Doctors
• Other: assist in all other areas of the hospital as needed

Requirements

Job Requirements
Skills Required:
* Proficiency in venipuncture on cats and dogs
* Proficiency in setting IV catheters
* Excellent communication skills
* Basic computer knowledge
* Self-motivation
* Ability to work as a team

Physical Demands:
* Standing for extended periods of time
* Lifting patients up and down from exam tables
* Lifting up to 40 or 50 lbs unassisted
* Sitting or kneeling on the ground while restraining, administering medications and cleaning
* Exposure to anesthetic gases and x-rays. (Proper protective equipment is provided, and its use is mandatory)

Education and/or Experience Requirements:
* Veterinary Technician experience is required
* Registered Veterinary Technician is a plus
