Objective:
Home Instead Senior Care Full Time/Guaranteed Hours CAREGiver is expected to perform a variety of duties that allow seniors to remain in their homes. The duties not only include direct care for seniors, but also relate to client care including care consultations with potential clients and family members, client/CAREGiverSM introductions and quality assurance visits with existing clients. These duties and services are meant to enhance the quality of life for seniors. Home Instead Senior Care Quality Assurance CAREGivers help clients and their families meet the challenges of aging with dignity, pride, care and compassion.
Description:
The CAREGiver Full Time/Guaranteed Hours position is a full time, guaranteed hours position. This position requires a minimum of 66 hours of open availability covering 5 days per week, including one weekend day. The position may be matched with specific clients and/or used as fill in. CAREGivers must possess the skills necessary to work with any client. Work assigned cannot be refused unless the Guaranteed Hours Commitment has been exceeded for that week.
Work Environment:
This position is a full time position and is expected to work a minimum of 20 hours per week and a maximum of 30 hours per week providing direct care to seniors. Additionally this position is expected to work a minimum of 10 hours per week and a maximum of 20 hours per week performing a combination of office duties and Quality Assurance Duties. Finally, this position will participate in the on-call scheduling rotation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- &bull Reflect the core values of Seeking Independence, Inc., (d.b.a. an independently owned and operated Home Instead Senior Care franchise).
- &bull Contribute to a positive living environment to enhance a client's quality of life
- &bull Document daily activities and report any significant changes in a client's needs or living conditions
- &bull Maintain regular communication with supervisor and office staff
- &bull Work with other team members to coordinate various aspects of a client's care.
- &bull Conduct client/CAREGiver introductions with every new client and with every new CAREGiver.
- &bull Create and maintain client and responsible party records documenting all quality assurance meetings.
- &bull Execute a schedule that ensures each client has at minimum one quality assurance visit per (month/quarter).
- &bull Recognize and pursue opportunities to modify service plans to best support the ongoing needs of clients through a quality assurance program.
- &bull Demonstrate open and effective communication with clients, family members, the franchise owner, colleagues and CAREGivers, and referral providers/care providers.
- &bull Work with clients and their families on the various issues that may arise to ensure they are getting resolutions to issues as well as receiving the services needed.
- &bull Maintain regular communication and attendance with/at the office to execute job responsibilities.
- &bull Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team.
- &bull Conduct Service Inquiries and Care Consultations as needed following the consultative sales process
- &bull Maintain ongoing communication and a consistent follow-up schedule with potential clients and families who have yet to commit to service.
- &bull Participate in the on-call scheduling rotation.
- &bull Provide Companionship & Home Helper services which could include:
- o Companionship and conversation
- o Providing stabilization and assistance with walking
- o Preparing meals and cleaning up meal-related items
- o Providing medication reminders and appointment reminders
- o Performing light housekeeping tasks (dusting, vacuuming, making beds, changing linens, cleaning bathrooms, kitchens, etc.)
- o Washing and ironing laundry
- o Running errands
- o Accompanying clients to appointments

- &bull Provide Personal Care services which could include:

- o Assisting with bathing
- o Assisting with grooming
- o Assisting with toileting and incontinence issues

- &bull Provide Specialized services which could include:

- o Advanced Alzheimer's/Dementia Care
- o Hospice Care
Secondary Responsibilities:

- &bull Conduct Service Inquiries and Care Consultations as needed following the consultative sales process
- &bull Maintain ongoing communication and a consistent follow-up schedule with potential clients and families who have yet to commit to service
- &bull Participate as needed in all CAREGiver meetings
- &bull Conduct Family Education sessions as needed
- &bull Participate in company sponsored training and social events including CAREGiver meetings
- &bull Report hours according to office policy & communicate changes in availability in a timely manner
- &bull Participate in bi-annual J.D. Power and Associates Satisfaction Survey
- &bull Document client information in Client and Life Journal
- &bull May require you to run errands and provide incidental transportation for a client using your vehicle or a client's vehicle.
- &bull Perform other reasonable duties as assigned
Job Requirements:

- &bull Must be available, ready and willing to work during the Availability Window as defined by the Guaranteed Hours CAREGiver Availability and Commitment form.
- &bull Must be available to report for work with no more than 1 hour notice during your Availability Window.
- &bull Must answer office staff telephone calls or return a voice mail or text message within 1 hours between 8:00am and 10:00pm, outside your Availability Window.
- &bull Must answer office staff telephone calls or return a voice mail or text message within 15 minutes inside you Availability Window.
- &bull Must not refuse any work assignments during the Availability Window as defined by the Guaranteed Hours CAREGiver Availability & Commitment form.
- &bull Must be able to work all work assignments scheduled during your Availability Window as long as they do not exceed your Guaranteed Hours Commitment per Week as defined by the Guaranteed Hours CAREGiver Availability & Commitment form.
- &bull Failure to comply with the Guaranteed Hours CAREGiver Availability & Commitment form will result in loss of Guaranteed wages and termination.
- &bull Must be able to work anywhere within Seeking Independence, Inc. client area.
Job Qualifications:

- &bull Must be 21 years of age or older
- &bull Must have 1-year professional caregiver experience or educational equivalent
- &bull Must remain a &ldquoDriving&rdquo CAREGiver:
- o Must have and maintain a reliable vehicle suitable for client transportation
- o Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
- o Must have and maintain a DMV record that shows you are a safe, responsible and courteous driver
- o Must have and maintain insurance on the suitable vehicle
- &bull Must be able to get to and from work reliably and on time
- &bull Must be bondable at all times
- &bull Clear pre-hire and random drug screens
- &bull Able to provide 3 professional and 3 personal reference checks
- &bull Background must meet Ohio Administrative Code standards for working with elderly
- &bull Must remain in contact with the office
- &bull Ability to withstand exposure to dust, mold, mildew and cleaning solutions
- &bull Ability to treat and care for clients and their property with dignity and respect
- &bull Ability to adapt to various living environments and locations
- &bull Ability to communicate with clients in a friendly and congenial manner
- &bull Heart rate cannot exceed 85% age adjusted rate
- &bull Must have standing balance
- &bull Ability to lift 12 inches to waist a minimum 50 pounds
- &bull Ability to push / pull 25 pounds
- &bull Ability to lift waist to chest 25 pounds
- &bull Climb up/down stairs
- &bull Ability to bend, squat, twist, stoop, kneel and stand
- &bull Ability to reach above head
- &bull Ability to complete patient transfer from wheelchair to bed simulation
Compensation:
