Position Summary:

Support the development of enterprise sourcing strategy by identifying and applying knowledge of key industry players, competitors and market dynamics to develop market analysis. Integrate and analyze complex data and market industry information from multiple sources to develop strategic sourcing recommendations. Investigate potential suppliers and recommend those most desirable. Interview supplier representatives regarding specifications, costs, inspection and similar problems relating to parts and equipment. Analyze technical data, designs, preliminary specifications, manufacturing limitations, supplier facilities and availability of parts and equipment. Responsible for $500m spend. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Essential Job Functions:

• Assist in developing supplier assessments, score cards and other analytics to effectively manage supplier performance
• Conduct opportunity assessments, benchmarking, cost modeling and root cause analysis to develop sourcing recommendations
• Assist in developing information for negotiation strategies
• Assist in managing components of cross-functional projects
• Implement cost reduction strategies established by top management
• Assist in developing supplier base to expand business, improve financials, reduce in-house/total costs, improve quality/5S, and on-time deliveries
• Foster a mentoring relationship with suppliers; adapt tactics based on supplier maturity and track record
• Maintain accurate and timely system settings, including information records, source list and Material Requirement Planning (MRP) related Material Master settings
• Create trial part purchase orders and track to ensure timely delivery; follow up and address issues with suppliers on quality and delivery of trial parts
• Assist in implementing inventory reduction projects for supplier base to meet top management's inventory reduction and months on hand (MOH) targets
• Accountable to the Kroger Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality Principles

Minimum Position Qualifications/Education:        

• Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field with 3 years of purchasing experience
• Excellent analytical and project management skills
• Working knowledge of market analysis, sourcing category strategy, supplier relationship management ‘should-cost’ models, and negotiations
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proficient Microsoft Office skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• 2 years of supply chain experience and responsibility for spend $600M (pay level - 6)
• 3 years of supply chain experience and responsibility for spend >$600M (pay level - 7)

Desired Previous Job Experience:

• Knowledge of MRP process
• Knowledge of critical procurement legal requirements and contracting best practices
• Experience with toll processing, rebill programs or directed buy for suppliers
