This position is responsible for providing overall administrative leadership, programmatic growth, accountability and consumer experience for Social Work and Patient and Family Services. This department collaborates with the Psychosomatic Medical Service line, Clinical Psychology, Palliative Care Services, Department of Family Centered Care and the Office of Clinician Support. Direct accountability for the Department of Social Work, Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect (SCAN) Program, Interpreter Services and International Medical Services,Chaplaincy, and Bereavement Services. Responsible for setting operational objectives including the planning, staffing and integration of psychosocial services; working closely with medical and patient care leadership (CNO) in Psychosomatic Medical Services and faculty in Psychosocial Services and Programs to optimally deliver these services across the continuum of care. Responsible for maintaining compliance with and adherence to regulatory, quality and service related professional and enterprise wide standards.

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Service Standards of the Hospital.

  • Develop and implement strategies that will maximize clinical expertise and synergies between existing programs and services within our enterprise to support goals and initiatives that address and nurture the psychosocial well- being of our patients, families, staff and faculty
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership, executive administration and department managers and staff at all levels to develop goals and objectives to support the growth and integration of key programs and initiatives of social work and Patient and Family Services, that exemplifies the holistic, nurturing and culturally sensitive enterprise-wide "brand of care".
  • Responsible for clinical and business operations of departments and services in scope of responsibility.
  • Develop collective operating budget, monitors performance and analyzes all variances.
  • Accountable for optimizing revenue capture and controlling expenses for existing and future programs without impacting quality.
  • Identify and implement best practices in resource utilization management and contracting for these disciplines/services.
  • Accountable for promoting process improvement to enhance operational efficiency as well as provide a culture of engagement, wellness and safety.
  • Collaborate with key leaders to perpetuate and expand our "Family Centered Care" model.
  • Oversee accountability for appropriate expenditures of special purpose funds allocated to the support of patients and families.
  • Develop and nurture new and existing synergistic relationships with community and regional institutions and programs that support the psychosocial needs of our patients and families.
  • Collaborate/partner with the leadership of the Office of Government and Community Relations to support and inform legislative efforts impacting relevant care in the disciplines.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Master's degree in social work from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Evidence of successful leadership roles in social work and patient and family services,in a hospital setting preferred.
