RIB CITY HOST / HOSTESS

Reports To:      Manager on Duty

Job Description:   The Host will be responsible for exceeding the guest expectations by providing them with friendly, prompt and attentive service that is tailored to the guest’s preference. Greet incoming guests with Welcome to Rib City and seat the guest in the dining areas while ensuring a smooth handoff to service staff. Have the ability to manage wait times. Answer phones in a prompt and professional manner, take accurate To Go orders and direct calls as applicable. Assemble the To Go food orders according to Rib City standards, check orders for accuracy, cash out the guest and review orders with the guest prior to handoff to ensure satisfaction. The Host is a team player, assisting throughout the restaurant when needed.  Responsible for bussing and resetting tables, as well as maintaining a clean and tidy dining room, foyer and restrooms. Qualifications:

  • 1+ year host / to go / cashier experience in a full-service dining restaurant
  • Minimum of 16 years of age with legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Excellent customer service, hospitality and interpersonal skills
  • Successful completion of Rib City Training program and testing (with a score of 90% or above).
  • Hold valid food handler safety card or obtain within first 90 days of employment.
  • Neat, well-groomed appearance that complies with the Rib City dress code which prohibits displaying visible tattoos and facial piercings.
  • Ability to learn quickly and to perform many different tasks within the restaurant during each shift
  • Work at a pace consistent with changing business volume and demands
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed
  • Ability to work as part of a team and build relationships

 

Responsibilities:                                                                                                                                                 

  • Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep store operating to standard and to set a positive example
  • Make decisions and solve problems in the interest of 100% guest satisfaction
  • Carefully monitors the operation of the stores and assists the manager in identifying and solving present and potential guest problems
  • Follows Rib City operational policies, standards and procedures, including cash handling and safety
  • Maintains a clean and organized workplace
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance
  • Available to work flexible hours that may include mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and/or holidays
  • Engage with and understand our guests, including discovering and responding to guest needs through clear and pleasant communication                                                                                                          
  • Thorough knowledge of all menu items and is prepared to answer any question a guest may have                                                                                             
  • Stays on top of running side work throughout the shift and assists other staff members when needed                                                                                                                                                                                                            
  • Completes all opening and closing side work, daily and weekly cleaning projects before leaving                                           
  • Any duties relevant to the restaurant which you are capable of and have received proper training for


Physical Requirements:

  • Read, write and comprehend the English language
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to squat, kneel, bend over throughout shift
  • Lift, load and carry a maximum of 35 pounds.  Any weight over 35 pounds with assistance
  • Work with cold and extremely hot food products, utensils, dinner plates and glassware
  • Transports and carries objects (such as high-chairs) up to 15 pounds up to 15 times a shift.
  • Ability to wipe down table tops, table legs, pick up debris off the floor and wipe down booth seats in all areas of the restaurant.
