Major Function: The Shift Manager is responsible for managing the activities of the Production Department and monitoring procedures and standards to achieve consistent high quality products produced in an efficient manner. Position also provides leadership for, and develops the abilities of, supervisory personnel and line employees in the production department.

The position is also committed to ensuring the best quality products, excellent customer service by maintaining required audits, Good Manufacturing Practices, Safety Standards, IPM Conformance, OSHA, Environmental Compliance, as may be required by Plant, Company, Local, State and Federal mandates or programs.

Specific Expectations Include But Are Not Limited To:

Supports without hesitation General Plant Safety, Food Safety, Food Defense Initiatives and Good Manufacturing Practices with an understanding that these are absolutes and are Priority #1.
Assures that General Safety and Food Safety and product Quality is an absolute priority by setting the example and utilizing Plant Teams and outside resources to accomplish this.
Assists in development and implementation of all production procedures and IPM, following a continuous improvement approach.
Clearly understands structure of Teams, acts as a resource and ensures that facts and data are used in all decisions related to product quality, cost savings improvement, etc.
Oversees and manages all facets of production.
Anticipates problems and designs contingency plans.
Makes decisions and follows through
Conducts annual evaluation of the production staff and recommends salary increases, employee development and corrective action. Serves as a resource and coach to employees as needed.
Conducts monthly safety meeting and quality / food safety training as needed.
Assists or leads in the planning for holidays and staffing needs.
Resource for budgeting for capital investments, pan glazing, downtime, and waste.
Builds cross-functional relationships, communicates with all departments and within the production department effectively.
Supports agreed upon procedures and policies; acts as resources to those developing the same.
Ensures compliance to Federal, State, and Company policies and mandates.
Assures product quality and consumer safety.
Prepares for reviews and audits.
Resource in training and motivator of Lead Persons and Production Line Associates as necessary.
Delegates’ tasks and responsibilities as may be necessary to Lead Persons.
Holds employees accountable for their performance, provides employees feedback and recognition.
Resolves conflict in a manner consistent with company culture and policies.
Conducts in-house audits and quality control checks as needed.
Maintains records for all phases of production relative to the Quality of the product and necessary for auditing purposes, as well as plant Formulation Records.
Liaison for flow of work with all other departments and for plant manufacturing at required Corporate Training and/or Meetings.
Allergens are currently a part of the plant operation; therefore, it is critically important that the entire Plant Allergen Program is clearly understood, supported and adhered to.
Must be flexible to work any shift.
