Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing repairs and preventive maintenance on production, and cleaning equipment. Provides support functions to manufacturing departments as needed. >>3rd shift<<

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

§  Diagnose machine problems and repair machines including disassembly, fabricating parts, and reassemble as necessary. 

§  Provide solutions to complex problems while supporting engineering and management. Suggest low-cost methods for repair of machines.

§  Requisition parts/materials needed for repair and preventative maintenance activities, as required.

§  Create and maintain Preventive Maintenance (PM) Plans associated to task lists for equipment and functional locations.  Including scheduling and tolerance windows for completion of PM work orders; especially in regards to validated/qualified equipment.

§  Identify unsafe working conditions and tools and recommend changes to promote worker safety.

§  Ensure that all manufacturing documentation for preventive maintenance is clear, complete, and correct and Good Manufacturing Practices are followed.

§  Provide training and assistance to other technicians as to proper maintenance

Expected Areas of Competence
  • Must be able to work without constant supervision, as well provide training to others.
  • Have knowledge of and skills to operate all manual and power hand tools, machine tools, and electrical measuring instruments. Welding Experience preferred.
  • Have basic understanding of electronics systems, with an understanding of ladder logic.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of manufacturing personnel and management.
  • Ability to work with layouts for wiring of fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment.
  • Ability to create solutions to complex problems.
  • Ability to identify cost saving methods and recommend changes to department management.
Education/Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • A thorough technical understanding of functional discipline is required, which may require advanced training or education as relevant.
  • 5 years previous experience as a maintenance technician or mechanic in a manufacturing environment.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly.
  • Must be able to stand for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
  • This position requires the use of a full face respirator and other safety equipment
