We are hiring a National Purchasing Manager to be located in either Glendale, CA or Dallas, TX. The National Purchasing Manager will lead and direct activities for the standardization, negotiation and development of National pricing across the Real Estate Team (Construction, Development, Asset Management & Facilities) at Public Storage.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Create and maintain National Purchasing Program, negotiate national pricing with vendors.
  • Develop and maintain Vendor Management Program.
  • Coordinate both programs across functional departs for Real Estate and Asset Management.
  • Interpret and evaluate contract language, contract drawings, and contract specifications
  • Assess and evaluate contractor capabilities, building products and material suppliers.
  • Negotiate pricing contracts with vendors and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance to project budgets and provide analysis of deviations
  • Research new materials for design and cost savings
  • Develop and implement new purchasing strategies to deliver ongoing cost reductions and process simplification
  • Maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers and resolve any conflicts related to daily activities
  • Establish new relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure adequate resources for all projects and to continually improve pricing and quality of work
  • Leverage technology, safety measures, and information sharing to increase productivity and profitability
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Construction or relevant work experience
  • 7+ years of experience managing purchasing activities
  • 5+ years of dedicated project estimating / cost management responsibilities for projects 
  • 3+ years of experience with developing estimates, costs, budgets, schedules, work proposals and contracts related to real estate developments and/or construction projects. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
