PURPOSE
- Coordinates and directs Maintenance personnel in performing planned jobs, emergency breakdowns, projects, and construction work.
- Respond to all safety issues and work closely with operations and safety departments to ensure compliance will all company and government standards and policies.
- Maintain a safe work place and practice good housekeeping
- Provide technical assistance and advise
- Input data into DataStream relating to labor, purchasing of parts from Supply, Preventive Maintenance and other work instructions, and equipment histories.
- Supports other plant organizations including Engineering, Purchasing, Planning, Production, and outside vendors/contractors

CHALLENGES:
- The Maintenance Supervisor reports directly to the appropriate Maintenance Superintendent or Maintenance Manager.
- Manages the daily operation in the assigned department. Receives input from hourly, Planning, Engineering, Production, and Maintenance Management relating to job assignments and priorities of work.
- Working with others resolves chronic equipment issues and improve equipment reliability
- Inputs data into maintenance management system relating to labor, material purchases, work instructions, creation and closing of work orders, preventive maintenance programs, etc.
- Resolves equipment problems and supplies technical assistance as needed
- Effectively use labor force to maintain equipment in assigned area at proper levels

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Pass Internal Mechanical Test during interview process
- Position needs minimum of 5 years experience in Maintenance department working in applicable craft.
- Completion of an apprentice program or equal; attendance at technical school or college is preferred
- 3 years Supervisory experience
- Knowledge of company rules, regulations, and policies
SPECIAL SKILLS:
- Strong Hydraulic knowledge and ability to troubleshoot complex hydraulic circuits
- Electrical knowledge preferred but not required
- Overhead crane maintenance experience preferred
- Ability to oversee multiple tasks at one time
- Strong knowledge in use of mechanical drawings
- Good knowledge of plant equipment and processes
- Computer literate
- Ability to communicate to all levels in the organization
- Strong technical skills in assigned area with good understanding of production operations and customer requirements
- Strong people skills
