Finishing Assistant/Packer

Location: Fairfield, Ohio
Job Type: Full-Time, Hourly

Work Hours: Due to growth, positions are available on all shifts:

First Shift 6:30 am to 2:45 pm

Second Shift 2:30 pm to 10:45 pm

Third Shift 10:30 pm to 6:45 pm

Summary: Executes the packaging of materials and products for our valued customers

Your Contribution: Constantly monitors quality of the product being packed and ensures the proper packaging of materials and products against customer orders/specifications

  • Performs all job duties within established safety guidelines
  • Packs products into box with accurate counts
  • Constantly monitors the quality of the product being packed and reports any problems to the operator or supervisor
  • Checks the labels on the cartons for accuracy
  • Performs stacking, taping, labeling, packing and other duties based upon tasks necessary to assure top efficiency on the production line
  • Ensures cartons are properly stacked
  • Reports any challenges or mechanical issues to the operator or maintenance department
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the production and packaging areas and keeps accurate counts of all finished product in conjunction with the operator
  • Develops a clear understanding of the various types of raw materials
  • Abide by all American Institute of Baking (AIB) standards and Honeymoon Paper Products, Inc. (HPPI) quality and safety regulations

Team member requirements:

  • Utilizing proper hair restraints
  • Washing hands after using the restroom or eating or whenever hands become soiled
  • Report all injures and treat all cuts, scrapes, open sores immediately and appropriately following the blood born pathogen policy
  • Eliminate jewelry (ear rings, rings with stones, loose necklaces)
  • Shut off cell phones or pagers (unless authorized)
  • Do not place personal items on the production floor
  • No food of any kind except in authorized areas
  • No tobacco products except in authorized areas

  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or one to three months related experience
    Capable of reading a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Conduct addition and subtraction of two-digit numbers and the ability to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Can perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions. Capable of dealing with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Requirements and Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the Finishing Assistant is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Team member is occasionally required to discern audible instructions and provide verbal directives or responses. The team member must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
