The successful UX Architect will have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in User Experience Design, Interaction Design, Service Design, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field
  • 7-10 years of experience in user-centric design
  • Proven capabilities and background in information architecture, interaction design, and visual design
  • Ability to contribute to user-interface designs in the form of wireframes, mid-to-high-fidelity screen designs, or prototypes using Sketch, InVision, proto.io, and the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Passion for creating usable, useful, and desirable products; relentless user advocacy
  • Creative problem solver with a drive to research and try new solutions for the betterment of the user’s experience
  • Strong verbal and visual communication and presentation skills to convey design strategies to key stakeholders
  • Organized, process-oriented, and thorough from project inception to specification hand-off
  • Knowledge and passion for the 10-foot TV-watching experience and interactive TV-industry trends

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience working in an agile development environment, especially using SAFe
  • Knowledg and application of the the Lean process, and Lean UX principles
  • Experience with smart solutions or IoT
  • Experience guiding passionate, creative designers and researchers

As a User Experience Architect, you will be responsible for leading the User Interface and User Experience Strategy for DISH’s growing line of television and video products, including the Hopper, our flagship product.  The successful candidate will be both analytical and creative; having proven abilities of applying ingenuity and design thinking to craft elegant customer-facing user-experiences.

 

Job duties and responsibilities:

  • Guide and inspire a team of UX designers working to create innovative user-experiences for DISH’s multiple-platform television and video products
  • Establish and design the structure and flow of the user experience and deliver meaningful presentation of information and organizational structure from the user’s perspective.
  • Visualize what the user experience and the achieved outcomes need to be. Identify the specific message and/or theme of the experience and ensure it is achieved.  Ensure the user can relate to the experience and that it has meaning to them.  Inform and lead the user, communicating progress and status.  Deliver clear and consise information that is of value to the user.  Consistent and focused messaging and outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively and iteratively with engineering resources, business owners, and other stakeholders in an agile development environment.
  • Find the best opportunities to measure our current experience using quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • Advocate for a user-centered approach to UX design throughout the business while understanding the needs of the business. Most importantly, understand the tradeoffs that may have to take place.
  • Translate business strategies into design opportunities (and vice versa!). Support the planning and execution of design and research projects including interface evaluation, usability testing, prototype development, interface development, and other UX activities
  • Quickly learn the intricacies of the Internet of Things and identify how to deliver the best user experiences possible
  • Be an active participant in guiding the Innovation Program and proliferating innovation across the organization
