Currently seeking a Railcar Repair Technician. In this role you will be responsible for the repairs and servicing of railcars as they enter and leave the yard. Please review the job duties and requirements listed below. This work can be done indoors and outdoors and this is a Union facility. JOB DUTIES:
Repairs, modifies and upgrades rail cars
Rebuilds car components: bolsters, side framers, hitch heads and box car doors
Welds (30% of time), fabricates and uses cutting torch
Performs mechanical labor (frequently - 95% of time)
Repairs and maintains railcars, according to blueprints and other specifications, using welders, grinders, hand tools, power tools and precision measuring instruments
Operates forklift to move, align and set in place parts in place
Measures, cuts and threads pipes and replaces air lines
Assembles subassemblies, major components, and equipment. Checks function to test for proper operation
Enters car repair information via electronic keyboard system
Work must be done to the customer requirements
Must comply with all work rules, work safely and not cause a threat to the health and safety of self and others
All other duties as assigned by supervisor
MACHINE/SAFETY EQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED:
Circular saw, Air impacts and Air grinders; Air or hydraulic porta power pump and ram
Cutting torch; heating torch; side grinder; hoist used for lifting; and winch
Steel toe shoes, hard hat, ear plugs, safety glasses, welding shield, burning goggles, grinding shield, and proper clothing (long sleeve shirts and long pants while welding)

Requirements
Welding experience preferred
Knowledge and experience with utilizing various hand and power tools
Forklift operation experience preferred
Prior mechanical or maintenance experience preferred
