The Vail Marriott Mountain Resort is now hiring a Banquet Captain.  This is a Full Time, Year-Round position that includes benefits such as paid time off, health insurance, Vail Resorts employee ski pass, and Vail Resorts / Marriott associate discounts.

 

Job Summary:

The overall responsibility of this position will be to lead our banquets and catering services teams in hosting the highest quality event experience to our guests. Included in this responsibility is the accurate and timely execution of food & beverage service, room sets, room flips, and room refreshes for our group / conference guests.  This position’s secondary responsibilities include accurate reporting, billing, and strategy around daily events.

 

Essential Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage the execution of the daily event agenda as detailed in the Banquet Event Orders.
  • Client communications to include event status updates, bill review for completed events, and general positive rapport.
  • Must maintain the organization, stock levels, cleanliness, and effectiveness of every banquet function space, storage area, and service station.
  • Will promote teamwork by anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems for the team and guests alike.
  • Must be role model for the service team in terms of behavior, presentation, and accountability.
  • Conduct daily stand ups.
  • Attend all mandatory banquet and leadership trainings as determined by the hotel.
  • Capable of working as a member of a cohesive team and maintaining a positive, proactive attitude.
  • Consistently adheres to the Vail Resorts Presentation Standards to be clean, neat and professional.
  • Completes all duties properly and in a timely manner.  Seeks out additional responsibilities when work assigned is complete.
  • Handles all opening and/or closing duties required.
  • Practices safe work habits in all types of duties and with all equipment.    
  • Complies with all Resort policies, procedures and standards of operation. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, understand and comprehend English fluently. -required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience. -required
  • Minimum of 2 year experience in banquets and/or conference services. –preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written form to guests, managers and employees. -required
  • Must be TIPS certified or able to become TIPS certified within 30 days of hire. -required
  • Must be able to stand and walk up to 8 hours at a time. -required
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays and evenings. –required
  • In-person interviews. -preferred
