Job Overview:

The Peach and Lily Cosmetic Beauty Advisor is responsible for providing professional service to customers by selling and demonstrating cosmetics and related items, as well as contributing to the success of the department through achieving personal sales goals. The associate is also responsible for fulfillment and performing other duties as necessary.

Macy’s uses a scheduling plan that allows our associates to participate in the creation of their work schedules by managing availability and identifying preferences. Additionally, during key events and peak selling times, Macy’s may offer additional shifts to our associates, which they may pick up using the self-scheduling tool. Essential Functions:
  • Drive top line sales of cosmetics and related merchandise and achieve personal sales goals by consistently demonstrating exceptional customer service and selling skills and actively participating in pre-selling and sales events.
  • Provide an exceptional customer experience by ensuring the customer is always the priority, acknowledging them promptly and in a friendly manner when they enter the selling area.
  • Determine customer needs based on personal features and other customer preference related factors, and Use My Client program to maintain customer profile and contact information.
  • Explain and demonstrate use of cosmetics through actual application.
Develop a repeat-business customer base in order to regularly communicate: upcoming events, new merchandise receipts and product replenishment to increase incremental sales.
  • Be knowledgeable of and efficiently perform sales support functions related to POS procedures, MPOS systems including Search and Send, My Client and More@ Macy’s tablet app.
  • Proactively assist customers who are using devices to shop and compare, whether Macy’s devices or their own.
  • Assist customers in all aspects of total store fulfillment and have the ability to satisfy the needs of our digital and physical customers by making appropriate partnerships when necessary.
  • Handle all returns courteously and professionally.
  • Actively support the cosmetics line and the department by ensuring proper presentation, organization, storing, and replenishment of stock; maintaining department presentation and recovery standards by keeping a clean, neat and easy-to-shop store environment; timely processing of new receipts, damages, testers, and return to vendors (RTVs); participating in physical inventory process.
  • Alert Cosmetic Counter Manager or Cosmetic Sales Manager of inventory and other inaccuracies.
  • Communicate regularly with vendors, planners, distributors, and buyers regarding stock needs, customer preferences, and special events
  • Adhere to Asset Protection and inventory control and compliance procedures.
  • Attend product training classes and seminars.
  • Demonstrate regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous selling experience is required, preferably in cosmetics.
Communication Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
  • Ability to interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English is required in order to be able to communicate with and demonstrate product knowledge for customers of this line.
Mathematical Skills:
  • Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to use a calculator.
Reasoning Ability:
  • Self-starter, able to work independently and as part of a team and must have good time management skills.
Physical Demands:
  • This position involves constant moving and standing. Involves standing for at least two consecutive hours.
  • Involves lifting at least 30 lbs. May occasionally involve reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. May involve reaching above eye level.
  • Requires ability to distinguish color, involves close vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Work Hours:
  • Flexible with scheduling and available to work retail hours, which may include day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays based on department and store/company needs.
