Job Description Summary:
THE TENNESSEAN Hotel Bell Services Team will consistently and efficiently provide THE TENNESSEAN Hotel Experience for every guest during every shift. The Bell Services Team will anticipate guest’s needs, communicate effectively, and work closely with the entire Guest Services Team and Hotel to ensure a flawless arrival and departure experience. The Bell Services Team will provide an exemplary first and last impression of THE TENNESSEAN Hotel to our guests.

Job Description:

Overview:
  • The Bell Services Team is primarily responsible for welcoming all guests to the hotel as well as bidding them farewell
  • The Bell Services Team escorts guests to and from their accommodations, orienting them with the features of the property and their accommodations, assisting the guest in any way to make them feel more comfortable
  • The Bell Services Team is responsible for tagging, organizing, storing, and transporting all luggage, packages, and requested items throughout the Hotel in accordance with the standards of THE TENNESSEAN Hotel

  • Bellpersons report to the Door Person
  • Key Relationships: Guest Services Team, Concierge Services Team, Doorperson, Valet, Butler Services, Housekeeping, Engineering, ALL Hotel Departments
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year guest or customer service experience required
  • Available to work irregular shifts including: weekdays, weekends, overnight, evenings, and holidays
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Hotel and/or luxury hotel experience preferred (Bellperson)
  • Articulate and well-spoken (Excellent use of verbiage)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to physically perform all required job duties
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and also independently with minimal supervision

Essential Job Responsibilities: Bell Services Team
  • Greet all guests in a warm and professional manner
  • Make guests feel welcome and anticipate their needs before they arise (exceed expectations even during the Welcome Process)
  • Work closely with Concierge Services, Front Desk, Valet, and Doorpersons to ensure a seamless Welcome/Arrival Process
  • Work closely with Concierge Services, Front Desk, Valet, and Doorpersons to ensure a seamless Departure Process
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests, anticipate and address guest’s service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank guests with genuine appreciation
  • Escort all guests checking in to their accommodations in accordance with the standards of THE TENNESSEAN Hotel
  • Inform visitors and/or guests about all hotel and guest room features, hotel facilities and emergency procedures (as needed)
  • Assist guests with their luggage, acknowledging them by name
  • Remain knowledgeable and up to date about current Hotel information, features, amenities, and events
  • Remain knowledgeable and up to date about the city of Knoxville and current events
  • Deliver the morning newspapers promptly to each occupied guest room
  • Make deliveries to guest rooms as instructed or assigned
  • Tag, store, organize, transport, and/or retrieve luggage and other objects (including packages) for guests
  • Use proper and clear tagging and organization methods/procedures in accordance with the standards of THE TENNESSEAN Hotel
  • Escort guests whenever possible
  • Provide an eloquent and professional introduction to guest accommodations
  • Provide guest with a demonstration of how to use the room key
  • Assist guest services with “room moves” of guests
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of luggage and guest items into and out of vehicles
  • Handle all guest luggage with the utmost care
  • Offer to contact Valet Services for the guest and assist to expedite the car retrieval process
  • Be aware and informed of all group and VIP/Invited Guest arrivals and departures
  • Communicate special guest requests to the appropriate department in a prompt, efficient, and effective manner
  • Ensure the lobby, bell closet, front drive, and work areas (as well as departmental equipment) are clean, professional, and presentable at all times and in accordance with the standards of THE TENNESSEAN Hotel
  • Offer assistance to all guests and provide them with requested information and directions, escorting the guest whenever possible
  • Report any pets to Guest Services and Concierge Services so that a note may be made and a pet amenity sent
  • Assist with the delivery of amenities as requested
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, and report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to a Manager or Supervisor
  • Attend daily line-ups/”pre-shifts” and mandatory departmental meetings
  • Maintain awareness of undesirable persons or items on property premises and report immediately to a Manager or Supervisor
  • Ensure uniform, grooming, and personal appearances adhere to the Appearance Standards of THE TENNESSEAN Hotel
  • Always speak with guests and fellow team members using clear and professional language/verbiage in accordance with the standards of THE TENNESSEAN Hotel
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with fellow team members and other departments
  • Complete any and all training and certifications as requested by a Manager or Supervisor, Hotel Manager, or Human Resources
  • Complete all Bell Services tasks in a prompt, timely, and efficient manner in accordance with the standards of THE TENNESSEAN Hotel
  • Adhere to all Safety and OSHA regulations and guidelines at all times
