Job Brief
Business Development Manager - Chicago
Position Objective
As the Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for driving profitable sales growth by generating new customers and penetrating current customers. You will identify sales opportunities through CRM tools, such as Salesforce (Sales Cloud), and establish both virtual and face-to-face relationships as the dedicated business development lead in this market.
You will be part of a “hands-on – dig in – make it happen” Sales team excited about finding new ways to grow our customer base!
Responsibilities
· Set and execute the strategy and roadmap for each Ecommerce platform (website, mobile, B2B) by implementing best practices for profitable sales growth
· Generate new business through prospecting, referrals, warm leads, cold calling, etc. for profitable sales growth
· Maintain and grow existing business through relationship building and outstanding customer service for increased sales penetration
· Leverage customer insights through an understanding of the customer journey and personas to execute a marketing and communication plan for each type of customer
· Identify which approaches and tools should be prioritized by analyzing ROI metrics for maximizing leads and growing sales
· Create and manage reports through the integration of data from multiple sources in order to monitor key metrics on an ongoing basis
· Analyze promotional activity effectiveness using CRM tools such as Salesforce to develop a recommendation for best marketing practices
· Gain a deep understanding of the market by scouting the area for new business opportunities and prospects
· Set in-person appointments to review products and programs offered with new and current customers
· Partner with store managers and local market leads to manage line capacity, head count, product forecasting, etc. for proper resource management
· Partner with functional units (IT, Operations, Marketing and Sales) to develop, implement, and monitor the tools and processes necessary to deliver on key business initiatives
Education & Requirements
· Minimum 4 years of professional experience in sales, marketing, or similar field
· Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) required
· Prior experience with Salesforce suite (particularly Sales Cloud)
· Prior experience with digital marketing campaigns or promotions
· Prior experience with setting up analytical plans, reports, and metrics
· Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment
· Ability to prioritize responsibilities and adhere to timelines
· Ability to communicate effectively to business stakeholders, internal teams, and external partners
· Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
· Travel as needed (20 – 50%) within the designated market
