Summary of Position:

The off-premise catering chef is responsible for full execution of event menus at off-premise events. These events can vary from small cocktail parties, to large university events, to weddings. The catering chef will be the lead in the kitchen and be responsible for the organization of the kitchen, delegating tasks to all kitchen assistants, prepping of any menu items, and swift service from start to finish, as well as full clean-up of kitchen space. Works hand in hand with the Executive Chef of Fenwick Catering and Events, Catering Operations Manager and Catering and Events Event Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ideal candidate will have at least two years off-premise catering experience
  • Responsible for preparation and finishing of menu items that are supplied by Executive Chef and commissary kitchen
  • Ensure smooth service from start to finish
  • Excellent organization and time management skills in the kitchen
  • Knowledge of full catering menu and any allergy concerns
  • Maintains a safe and healthy working environment in accordance with all policies and regulations. This applies directly by being able to work in inclement weather conditions
  • Kitchen and workspace is clean and sanitized throughout the event for safe food handling by kitchen staff and servers
  • Understands the catering vehicles and how to properly handle loading and unloading at all events
  • Follows scheduling and gives ample notice to the Operations Manager of any changes
  • Ensure effective communication with Operations Manager, Catering Events Manager and service staff
