JOB DESCRIPTION: As a primary contact for Safeway customers, the Customer Service Manager provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service. The Customer Service Manager is held accountable for the department’s results in providing superior service, increasing sales, improving gain, and containing cost. Trains, supervises, schedules, and assigns duties to Customer Service Booth Clerks. Follows division guidelines for the implementation of merchandising programs. Changes signs and prices as directed by merchandising. Inventories stock as needed. Writes order in the order book. Checks orders for completeness upon arrival. Responsible for maintaining appropriate stock and inventory in the area. Operates computerized cash register to itemize and total customer’s purchases from specialty counter of grocery store. Provides information regarding, products, exchanges, and other in-store information. Records and sells money orders and lotto tickets. Sells small items such as tobacco, candy, batteries, film, etc. Answers telephones, accepts, prepares and sends UPS shipments. May assist with cleaning of front area of store and courtesy booth area. JOB DUTIES: Safeway Customer Service Manager employees are generally responsible for completing the following job duties: 1. Provide customer service as currently defined by the employer within the scope of the position and within company policy. 2. Train, schedule, and supervise workers to ensure optimum staffing patterns in department. Speak with customers to resolve problems, disputes, etc. 3. Performs inventory and orders necessary supplies to maintain adequate stock. 4. Operate computerized cash register to total customers’ final bill. 5. Receive payment for customer purchase and count back correct change. 6. May bag small items in plastic, canvas or paper bags. 7. Assist in maintaining cleanliness of front area of the store. 8. Operates machines to sell money orders, lotto tickets, and transfer funds by wire. Accepts and prepares UPS shipments. Operates computer to provide proper shipping information. 9. Check mail and website daily for work related information. 10. Other duties as assigned. JOB RELATED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Ability to follow company customer service procedures. Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience. 2. Ability to interact with customers and co-workers. 3. Ability to understand and follow instructions. 4.
