SOLIDWORKS  DESIGNER  needed for Menomonee Falls Manufacturer. This company offers outstanding benefits and a great work environment.  Employee focused!

General Function:

Prepare conceptual layouts, create parametric solid models and assemblies and develop drawings for mechanical components related to existing and new product design.  Work with engineers and suppliers to make sure component and system designs are able to be manufactured.  Synthesize new concepts into solid model representations for fit, form, and function.

 

Responsibility Overview:

         Prepare conceptual layouts of new product proposals and proposed modifications of existing products.

         Construct solid models using the Engineering Department CAD system Solid Works.  Use model assembly technology to determine system integrity and develop tolerance stack-ups. P

         Properly structure models and maintain file organization per internal standards.

         Originate ideas for new product features and product modifications.

         Make drawings from solid models, following Engineering Standards.  Use Solid Works for drawings from solid models and AutoCAD Lite for 2-D drawings.

         Analyze models, design, and drawings, and make recommendations for modifications and improvements.

         Assure feasibility of manufacturing products or components.

         Advise and instruct lower level CAD Designers (if required).

         Perform routine design calculations such as structural strength, bearing recommendations, etc.

         Analyze the details on new drawings and/or the effect of change(s) to details on existing drawings for form, fit, function and positional relationship of components and parts; review and check all calculations.

         Examine drawings for accuracy per Engineering Standards, feasibility of production, and fulfillment of the intent requested.

         Review product change requests for completeness.

         Demonstrate a working knowledge and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), using and/or establishing datum systems acceptable to manufacturing process and inspection.

         Perform tolerance stacks of engineered assemblies.

         Good understanding of our core manufacturing processes; Welding, Sheet Metal Forming, Sand Casting, Thermal Forming, and Machining.  Knowledgeable of these five core processes.

         Complete and archive required design calculations such as strength of materials, loading, volumes, etc., using accepted formulas and manuals.

         Prepare detailed information including bills of material for configuration management and service manuals.

         Incorporate Design for Manufacturability and Assembly into the design of components, assemblies, and systems.

 

QUALIFICATIONS  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE :

                    Six to eight years of experience as a mechanical designer for mechanical equipment or complex machinery using 3D modeling software, preferably AutoCAD and Solid Works.

                    Associate Degree in Mechanical Design or related engineering field required. 

                    Demonstrate the ability to work with minimum supervision, show great attention to detail and demonstrate strong accuracy and accountability skills.

                    Must have ability to prioritize work effectively, meet deadlines, and resolve conflicts with minimal supervision concerning assignments varying from routine to complex.

                    Able to analyze, synthesize and meaningfully communicate design related information and data on a regular basis.

                    Requires a demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge to create sound, original, economic product design.

                    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical +procedures, or governmental regulations.

                     Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

                     Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

                    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. 

                    Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

                    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

                     Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Hours are: 8 AM - 430 PM MON-FRI

Pay Range:  $22-27/hr. based on experience and may be negotiable
