RN Surgery- Pre-Op and PACU: Part-Time- No Weekends and No Call Under the direction of the Department Director, Manager and/or Clinical Nurse Supervisor, provides high quality, cost-effective nursing care, meeting the medical, psycho/social, spiritual, emotional and educational needs of OR patients.
Primarily responsible for preparing patient for surgical procedures and endoscopy procedures, and assisting during surgery.
Performs related assessments, planning, procedures/treatments, evaluations and updates of patient plan of care that assures and maintains high quality care for all assigned patients.
Provides nursing care consistent with established nursing policies, protocols, and professional standards, and acts as a patient/family advocate to assure appropriate provision of patient care and to protect patients' rights.
Safely and effectively performs procedures and treatments related to surgical services and endoscopy.
If applicable, also performs scrub role, demonstrating knowledge of instruments, supplies and equipment, priority setting and delivery of practice in a safe and competent manner.
Appropriately performs skin preparation.
Assists anesthesia staff as needed, especially during induction and emergence.
Administers medications as directed by a physician.
Functions autonomously and competently in sedation/analgesia procedures.
Demonstrates competence in the knowledge and use of endoscopy equipment.
Ensures dressings, tubes and drains are secured at end of procedure and safely transports patient to next level of care.
Provides effective report to unit nurse.
Minimum Qualifications: Education: Associate's degree in nursing required, BSN preferred.
Experience: Minimum one (1) year of surgery center experience preferred.
Licensure/Certifications: Current Idaho RN license.
Compact license accepted.
Current BLS or obtain within 30 days of employment.
Current ACLS or obtain within six months of employment.
PALS preferred but not required.
