Sr Staff Accountant

The Controller’s group within Citizens Bank is seeking an individual to work on Commercial Payments Reconciliation Team. This individuals will perform reconciliation activities for a wide variety of functions in the bank, including but not limited to cash, accruals, suspense, intercompany accounts and accounts related to certain transaction processing systems. Since reconciliations represent a critical internal control, these positions will partner with the team’s internal customers, working with them to ensure that accounts are reconciled timely and accurately. This individual will also be deeply involved in accounting system implementations and general ledger maintenance when those activities have in impact on the bank’s reconciliations.Job Functions:

Prepare general ledger account reconciliations for a variety of accounts

Critically review supporting documentation provided by the bank’s lines of business and provide effective challenge to that documentation when necessary

Ensure that reconciliations and related documentation conform to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and bank policies

Prepare periodic schedules for the bank’s financial reporting teams and external auditors

Participate in accounting system implementations and upgrades

Partner with the various lines of business throughout the bank regarding reconciliation-related accounting issues, including training and instruction

Qualifications

4-6 years relevant accounting and/or reconciliation experience in a large multi-divisional/multi-entity company (banking preferred)

Experience with large general ledger systems (experience with the Oracle general ledger system is strongly preferred)

Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access & PowerPoint)

Strong working knowledge of Hyperion Essbase and Hyperion Financial Management

Strong quantitative, analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills

Experience preparing & presenting reports to senior management

Education

Bachelors Degree in Accounting required
