Lab Technician II

Staffmark is hiring Experienced and Entry Level Lab Technicians to work at a Local Oil and Gas Company.
Lab technicians will have a degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related Science. General chemistry experience to include (wet chemistry, synthesis, bench chemistry, autoclaves)
Day in the life of the Lab Technician-

Prepares samples and performs standard ASTM and non-standard in-house methods on formulated oils, additives, crude oil and crude oil distillation fractions and other petroleum industry materials.

Effectively communicates orally and in writing with supervisors, peers, facility support people, internal customers project and outside suppliers; documents all experiments, data and analyses in laboratory notebooks and spreadsheets; writes standard operating procedures and technical reports.

May conduct multiple test methods, in aqueous and organic, with ICP-AES instruments such as Thermo iCap and Spectro Arcos

May operate complex, small-scale catalyst testing equipment with on-line GCs

May perform product characterization, especially XRD, SEM, ICP

Gas chromatography use and maintenance

Maintain a safe, clean, well-organized lab meeting all safety and environmental regulations

Keeping chemical inventory accordingly

Maintain data records and laboratory notebooks of sufficient quality to support processes transfer, scale-up and intellectual property protection and patent applications

Report data in written and oral reports, including data presentations in tabulated and graphical
Advanced skills to include operating bench scale units for catalyst testing which may operate at elevated temperature & pressure (500F and ?1000 psig)

Preferred Qualifications:

??? BS degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field
??? Excellent manual dexterity and eyesight to carry out work on small objects with precision tools
??? Competence to maintain and repair lab apparatus are highly desirable
