Job Description

Mai Sushi requires a motivated, highly organized individual for the position of a Central Kitchen Facility Manager for our operations based in Long Island City, NY. This individual would be responsible for managing all operations for the 15,000 square foot facility, including but not exclusive to daily production, food safety, training, and staff development. The individual should have at minimum 3 years experience managing a central kitchen or commissary operations, and preferably have knowledge and experience with obtaining facility certifications such as GFSI or SQF.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ability to create a culture that promotes Food Safety and health standards as a top priority.
  • Ability to perform food-safety related practices such as monitoring accurate logs, and hosting authorities for food safety compliance audits.
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement through management of all supervisors to optimize production efficiency.
  • Knowledge and experience implementing and improving company policies, such as written corrective actions, discipline warnings, performance reviews, as well as terminations of employees.
  • Ability to monitor, and update all facility processes and procedures.
  • Ability to manage up operational issues and identify resources needed to complete tasks.
  • Responsible for development, training and coaching of supervisors and staff, goal setting, and providing performance feedback on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for arranging vendor equipment repairs and maintenance.
  • Communicating among departments (e.g. Warehouse locations, Purchasing, and retail operations managers) of any of issues or changes in the operation.
  • Complete all required documentations such as new hire paperwork, FMLA, and Workers compensation including OSHA in order to submit to respective departments.
  • Has knowledge of OSHA, FDA, USDA regulations.

Qualifications
  • Minimum three years of supervisory experience working in manufacturing, kitchen management, or food production facility.
  • Strong experience with labor cost control and improving facility productivity.
  • Experience with managing operations towards achieving financial targets.
  • Experience understanding a company profit & loss statement, and managing within budgeted goals.
  • Knowledge and experience with obtaining facility certifications such as GFSI or SQF preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills- both oral and written; willingness to lead a team and work as part of a team, bi-lingual in English and Japanese a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize efficiently and delegate responsibilities.
  • Ability to train others and give positive/critical feedback to employees.
  • Effective time management skills, strong organizational skills, and available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the business.
