POSITION SUMMARY: Supports the mission of the hospital is toprovide patients with the highest quality of healthcare in a caring atmosphere.
Provision of nursing care to adult and geriatric patients based upon the nursing process and for which educational background has provided nursing skills for patients with physical and/or functional limitations..
May assume responsibilities of charge nurse when the need arises.
Directly supervises LPN's Nursing Assistants, and Unit Secretaries.
Promotes teamwork with physicians and other departments.
Responsible for effective communication among other members of the department of rehabilitation nursing, interdisciplinary team, other healthcare professionals, hospital employees, and support services.
Utilizing the standards set forth for Nursing Practice by the ANA and the RN will organize, modify, evaluate, document and maintain the plan of care for acute rehabilitation patients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Physical ability to stand for long periods of time, walk, push, pull, lift up to 50 pounds, stoop, reach, crouch, finger, grasp, feel.
* Must be able to perform CPR.
* Must have the ability to express ideas by means of the spoken word to others accurately, loudly or quickly.
* Assists with activities of daily living and meals.
* Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound.
* Visual acuity to analyze data and figures, including items seen on computer terminals and written pages.
* Reading required.
* Considers age and physical status of patients to determine staffing requirements and to plan and deliver nursing care.
* Participates in in-services and meetings.
* Direct caregiver.
* Monitors and evaluates performance of personnel.
* Monitors quality of care and seeks opportunity to make improvements.
* Participates in committees as necessary.
* Is customer oriented and uses effective communication skills.
* Demonstrates organization ability and sound judgment.
* Acts as charge nurse when needed EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED: * Associates required * Bachelors preferred LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: * BLS – AHA Healthcare Provider required * RN with the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Georgia required EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED: * Unit secretary skills preferred * Cardiac monitoring preferred * Rehab nursing preferred SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: * Strong communication skills in both oral and written format * Flexibility to intervene on a moment's notice * Ability to problem solve, and seek assistance from team members when necessary * Ability to cope with death and dying * Ability to listen, empathize and respond to patient, family, internal and external partners needs * Basic computer skills * Telephone, communication skills * Photo static copier * Facsimile
