Job Description

The Sr General Manager/Director Warehouse Operations plans, organizes and monitors the receiving, storage and distribution of all items received either from suppliers or internal transfers, ensuring a smooth and consistent operation so parts all materials are located and distributed to proper departments in an effective and efficient manner as needed to satisfy internal and external customer requirements. The position oversees team which are responsible for receiving, storage and distribution; and supervises a staff which is responsible for multiple associate across multiple shifts.

Essential Functions:

  • Interfaces with warehouse management, transportation, human resources, and buyers to maintain efficiencies and service levels. Recommends and implements improvements in warehouse practices to promote efficiency, faster service, and lower costs.
  • Coordinate the receiving and shipping of goods to meet internal and external customer requirements.
  • Develop and maintain distribution Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Organize the warehouse to maximize space utilization.
  • Grow and develop warehouse talent by providing new competencies, coaching, and training.
  • Conducts performance evaluations, schedules and approves overtime, issues disciplinary actions, and resolves employee issues.
  • Estimates personnel needs and ensures adequate staffing to meet -established completion dates.
  • Ensures that warehouse associates adhere to all safety, security, sanitation, and pest control codes, laws and policies.
  • Works with customers, in person when necessary, to resolve complaints such as bad loads, damage, mispicks, out-of-stock, and delivery schedules.
  • Maintain the physical condition of equipment and the warehouse through adequate training, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Develop productivity and safety indices and monitor individual colleague performance against the standards.
  • Purchase warehouse equipment, materials, and services through a competitive bidding process.
  • Prepare operating budgets, forecast expenditures and analyze expenses including corrective action plans as needed to achieve business unit financial goals and objectives.
  • Maintain accuracy of the warehouse inventory by comparing periodic cycle counts to the book inventory and reconciling if necessary.

Managerial Responsibilities:

Responsible for training and development of subordinate staff. Conducts performance evaluations; recommends salary adjustments; schedules and approves overtime; takes disciplinary action, as necessary; addresses complaints and resolves issues.

Position Type and Expected Hours:

This is a Full-Time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel:

Light travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience:

  • B.S. or B.A. degree in business management, industrial management, Logistics or related field; 10 to 12 years of experience in warehousing, receiving, inventory control or materials management in a manufacturing environment, with 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience supervising, coaching and developing staff.
  • Experience in Drop shipping and LTL is a MUST
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Versatility, flexibility and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
  • Proficient working with a WMS, Outlook, MS Office
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Supply Chain Management, Logistics
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English) is a preference

Submittal and clearance of drug and background screening to meet company policy expectation.
