Job Description

Summit County Bike Share – Bicycle Mechanic - Job Brief:

We are looking for a reliable Bicycle Mechanic to act as a maintenance and repair point for the Summit County Bike Share programs. You will receive general maintenance and damaged bikes from field unit drivers to repair on a daily basis.

The ideal candidate must be a hard working, mechanically inclined, and have a background in bicycle repair.

The goal is to enable the Summit County Bike Share program to run efficiently by sustaining accurate maintenance on all bicycles and stations. Proper maintenance will ensure the safety of riders and overall success of the bike share system.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform general maintenance on bicycles to ensure safety and proper functionality.
  • Complete repairs in a professional and timely manner.
  • Perform repairs on damaged/vandalized bicycles.
  • Ensure bicycles are repaired in a timely manner for delivery back to stations throughout Summit County, UT.
  • Set a schedule and report for work as assigned.
  • Respond to requests from your manager(s).
  • Ensure that all necessary reporting is accurate, complete, and timely.
  • Keep a positive relationship with all co-workers.
  • Contribute to the future growth of the Summit County Bike Share program.
  • Other duties as necessary/assigned.

Work Environment:

  • Industrial facility with indoor bike repair shop. Outdoor cleaning areas as necessary.

Requirement Skills and Knowledge:

  • Professional or organizational bike repair experience.
  • Basic knowledge and familiarity with tools.
  • Mechanical knowledge and experience with bicycles.
  • Basic use and familiarity of multi-meters.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to lift 60lb electric bicycles.
  • Electrical knowledge preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Interpersonal skills – maintain confidentiality; remain open to others' ideas; demonstrate patience and willingness to try new things.
  • Adaptability – enthusiastically adapt to changes in the work environment.
  • Dependability - Follow instructions; respond to management direction; communicate frequently; solicit feedback to improve performance.
  • Passion for bikes, efficiency and sustainability
