Santoni’s Marketplace and Catering is seeking a unique and talented individual to join our kitchen as a Part Time Commercial/Retail Baker
As a Part Time Commercial/Retail Baker the successful candidate will have 2-4 years in the retail and/or commercial baking industry. The Baker’s production duties include baking frozen and ‘from scratch’ products according to established recipes and customer requests, use creative techniques to produce new products
We are looking for that special person who is organized, detail oriented and consistently exceeds customer expectations by the ability to WOW & DELIGHT them in every aspect of the Santoni's/Customer experience.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Produces bakery products to maintain shelves, tables, catering and departmental needs. Also produces according to production sheets;
- Measure and mix ingredients into dough and batter products;
- Maintains Santoni’s high standards for product freshness and sanitation;
- Measure and mix ingredients; roll, cut or shape dough according to specifications; decorate finished product as needed;
- Preps bread and other products for proofing;
- Monitors the mixing and baking process to identify needed adjustments;
- Rotates products to ensure high quality standards are met;
- Assisting in other duties, as assigned.
Skills Knowledge & Abilities:
- Demonstrates a sound knowledge of hygiene and safety standards in the kitchen, and the discipline to enforce those standards;
- Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail;
- Must demonstrate a high energy approach to the position with the ability to multi-task and manage time effectively;
- Ability to operate effectively and professionally under pressure;
- Self-motivated with a strong aptitude and desire to learn;
- Must demonstrate the ability to work with a team and to motivate others;
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs;
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department including early morning shifts, weekends and holidays as required.
Education & Experience: High School Diploma or its equivalent. Must be 18 years or older. 2 to 4 years in a commercial baking environment and merchandising experience is preferred.
Work Environment: Exposure to various temperature changes: heat from ovens and cold from walk-in freezers; walking and standing for long periods of time.
