About this job

The candidate will be an experienced technical contributor for the MK48 Heavy-weight torpedo program, responsible for implementing signal processing and DSP functions onto a modern-day System on Chip (SoC). The starting point will be to use customer provided specifications and assembly language code targeted for an Analog Devices DSP and recreate the identical functionality within a Xilinx or Micro Semi SoC. The person should be well versed with using FPGA DSP Slices and other SoC resources. Robust design simulation/ verification and implementation of DSP HW is a must. Ability to work with EE board designers to perform integration, test & production support is plus.

The candidate needs to have at least 5 years of DSP experience implementing designs within a modern Xilinx or Micro Semi FPGA. The person will work on an experienced Team (including other EEs), leading and directing technicians and junior engineers, performing component research, board level design and troubleshooting. The engineer will collaborate routinely with other engineering disciples. The engineer will write a variety of documents.

Excellent multitasking skills are a must, as engineers here typically juggle several tasks/programs/products simultaneously. The candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong ability to successfully work with customers, program management, engineering project managers, and within the multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams.

Some overtime and travel are required. The candidate should be energetic, able to work independently, yet thrive in a team environment and have sound theoretical and practical experience as well as passion for engineering. An active security clearance is a major plus, though at a minimum, the person only needs the ability to obtain a clearance.


Basic qualifications

  1. BSEE minimum
  2. Outstanding ability to multitask
  3. 5+ year history of FPGA/DSP design, testing, and troubleshooting
  4. Matlab/Simulink knowledge is plus
  5. Xilinx Vivado &/or Micro-Semi development tools
  6. Strong VHDL skills
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  8. The ability to work well in a team environment

Desired skills

  1. Expertise with ADSP2100 is a plus
  2. Strong Verilog skills
  3. Software expertise in assembly language, C, C++, etc.
  4. Proficient with common laboratory engineering tools such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, digital multi-meters, and other support equipment
  5. Accomplished with high speed digital board design
