Blue Dalia is a vibrant Mexican restaurant and tequila bar featuring authentic, contemporary Mexican food and craft cocktails prepared with market-fresh ingredients that will be located on the second floor of Wegmans at the Natick Mall.

What is my job: The job of the Prep Cook is to prepare the ingredients needed to create high quality meals.  In this position, the Prep Cook uses passion for preparing food to develop the skills and talents needed to succeed in a restaurant setting while executing and organizing work for efficient production

How do I make a difference?

Ensuring High Quality Products & Ingredients

  • Assist the entire kitchen’s operations by prepping ingredients to be used in preparing products, ensuring they are ready to be used so meals can be prepared for guests without setbacks or delays and a positive dining experience can be achieved
  • Follow proper recipes, knife skills and cooking techniques when prepping ingredients and prepare products to ensure a consistent final outcome
  • Effectively multitask and balance prep work while ensuring guests meals are prepared in a timely manner with the highest standards of quality maintained
  • Properly handle products, using equipment and keep accurate logs in accordance with food safety and safety guidelines, as well as comply with applicable State Restaurant Health Code Regulations
  • Prepare pre-shift meal as needed

Continuously Improving Results

  • Prep, execute and break down kitchen stations; performing opening and/ or closing procedures in the kitchen to prepare for that day’s or the following day’s work with the aim of ensuring the most efficient operations
  • Assist the stewarding team during peak volume times to ensure tasks are completed efficiently to meet the needs of the restaurant

What skills, learnings, and experiences are preferred and will set me apart?

  • Experience working as a short order cook, prep cook, or apprentice cook
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts
  • Food preparation experience
  • Able to problem solve, anticipating, analyzing, and identifying problems, responding quickly when situations arise and preventing problems when possible

Work environment:

  • Work includes standing, walking for prolonged periods of time without a break, repetitive hand and arm movements, bending, reaching, frequent lifting, and occasional heavy lifting, along with continuous interaction with guests and co-workers in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work involves exposure to various work environments, including temperature changes.
  • The average weight range of items lifted is 5–10 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 50 pounds occasionally.
  • May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction).
