POSITION SUMMARY The Clinical Nurse Educator participates as a member of the health care team in the orientation of new staff and identification, assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of educational needs for department specific staff members.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Required: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
A minimum of five years clinical experience in specialty area.
Preferred: Master's degree in Nursing.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Required: Licensed in the state of Texas as RN.
AHA BLS at time of hire.
AHA ACLS w/in 1 year of hire.
Preferred: Certification in nursing specialty.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP Reports to: Director, Clinical Practice Positions supervised: Clinical aspects of care delivered by RNs and LVNs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Sets priorities and makes decisions of a complex nature.
Interfaces directly with physicians, staff, patients and family members, as well as other health team members throughout the St.
David's Healthcare Partnership.
Maintains confidentiality of patient's medical record. Ensures availability of education programs to comply with JCAHO, hospital and department requirements.
Must be self-directed and highly motivated.
Must have expertise in interpersonal relations, leadership and problem solving.
Must be able to utilize the principles of adult learning.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
May be required to care for patients of all ages throughout the lifespan.
Must be able to demonstrate understanding of national patient safety initiatives by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures as required by both HCA and Round Rock Medical Center.
