Job Description

Summary:

The Clinical Manager leads and directs services, workflow and resources for assigned nursing area.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops departmental goals and objectives consistent with medical, administrative, legal and ethical requirements of the health care delivery system.
  • Directs clinical activities, including patient assessment, care plan development, service level determination, patient visits, and complaint management.
  • Plans, organizes and directs all activities related to staffing, including hiring, orienting, evaluating and continuing education initiatives.
  • Prepares and monitors budget(s) and ensures that assigned nursing area operates within allocated funds.
    Coordinates and directs internal and externally-driven audits.
  • This individual reports to the Chief Nurse Officer (CNO) and is responsible for guiding and overseeing all management and clinical activities of assigned areas for effective, efficient, and economic outcomes.
  • Administers 24-hour accountability for patient care delivery, human resources management, and compliance with private, state, and federal regulations for multiple departments.
  • Individuals will be expected to achieve divisional and organizational goals and ensure optimal outcomes for designated patient populations
  • Individuals will establish productive working relationships with key physician stakeholders in their areas and promote employee engagement with all associates.
  • Through effective leadership, individuals will demonstrate behaviors consistent with system values, effective service delivery, efficient decision making, high levels of customer service, and produce work that is of high quality and cost efficient.

  • Qualifications

    Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s): Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Licensed Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Education:

  • BSN preferred. Master’s degree in nursing, health or business administration preferred.
  • Certification in nursing specialty preferred.
  • Work Experience:

  • Previous Supervisory experience preferred.Knowledge of the theoretical and clinical aspects of care to affect positive nursing outcomes.
  • Knowledge of the ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice: Standards of Care and Professional PerformanceKnowledge of regulatory agencies: CMS, State of Michigan and the Joint Commission.
  • Knowledge of application of principles of personnel management, budgeting and departmental operations.
  • Knowledge of the ENA and ACCN standards of care.
  • High level of analytical ability (directs the work of large and/or diverse areas).
  • Effective interpersonal skills required; deals with external customers and key internal stakeholders.
    Able to manage broad areas of responsibility; establishes policies and procedures as needed.
