Job Description

Job Summary:

Assists with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists with treatments ordered by physician as supervised by physician or registered nurse.
    Performs select clinical duties.
  • Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts.
    Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  • Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
  • Performs basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies.
    Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
  • Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping surgical patients.
    Monitors patients condition prior to, during and after procedures and promptly reports any abnormal findings.
    Prepares surgical cart and hands required instruments and supplies to the surgeon .
    Maintains instruments in an organized manner and tracks instrument count throughout the procedure.
  • Performs EKGs, hotlers, event monitors, stress tests, breathalyzer tests, phlebotomy procedures as well as drug screens.
    Interprets, describes and reports results: recognizes errors and artifacts and reacts appropriately.
  • Manages the flow of the pain clinic.
    Sets up pain records, schedules patients for appointments and returns patient/physician phone calls.
    Prepares sterile setting and assists pain physicians with pain procedures.
  • Verifies patient, reviews and maintains patient treatment record.
    Collects data as required.
    Prepares and maintains equipment, supplies and lab area.

  • Qualifications

    Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):
  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. 
  • Preferred Credential(s):
  • Certified Medical Assistant. 
  • Education:

  • HS or Equivalent High School Diploma or equivalent required Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program preferred
  • Work Experience:

  • One year experience preferred.
