About this job

One of our clients, a global leader in solar energy solutions, is seeking a qualified Estimator to join their team.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates based on complete engineered drawings
  • Assist in preparing properly qualified and clarified conceptual cost estimates based on minimal information
  • Perform accurate, timely, and organized quantity takeoffs
  • Assist with scope of work development during the pre-construction bid process
  • Develop and maintain databases - subcontractor, historical costs, and unit costs
  • Develop self-performed estimates for tasks we choose to perform in-house
  • Perform one-off analysis in support of ongoing cost reduction initiatives
  • Communicate effectively with internal engineering group to assess site specific conditions - Topo, Hydro & subsurface conditions
  • Occasionally perform site walks with construction team to further evaluate site specific conditions and/or constraints
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years estimating experience in the construction industry
  • Experience using 3rd party estimating software a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or Business Management discipline, preferred
  • Proficient use of all Microsoft Office Suite programs, particular emphasis on Excel
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to effectively use a variety of estimating, scheduling and reporting tools
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, specifications and RFPs. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees in the organization
  • Ability to positively interact with and meaningfully contribute to the understanding of all parts of the EPC organization. Ability to both take and give instructions when the situation occurs
  • Ability to organize work and focus on priorities in a dynamic, fast paced, multi-project environment. Ability to avoid distractions and produce high quality products in a timely fashion under limited supervision
  • Team player with a positive attitude, motivated and success driven
  • Desire to learn about the construction industry and willing to take direction
