NOTE:  This is a 12-month project with the anticipation that this position will end at the completion of this project. 


Overview of Project:  This project is supporting the integration of the legacy Marriott and legacy Starwood Reservations Funds, including 2018 reporting and 2019 budgeting.  The project will include developing interim reporting for 2018 as well as the longer -term reporting structure for 2019 when the funds are merged.    The project will also support the Project Pyramid team on the integration of the Reservations Fund into the Program and Services Fund effective 2019.  


Overview of Position:  The Senior Manager will be a key contributor in designing, implementing and managing reporting for the Reservations Fund for 2018 actuals and 2019 budget.  The Senior Manager will work across the respective discipline finance teams (e.g, Customer Engagement Centers, Digital, IT, etc) to develop consolidated reporting and to support development of the 2019 budget.


The Senior Manager will coordinate with multiple stakeholders including Corporate leadership, other Finance and discipline teams, as well as external stakeholders. She/he must be adept at tapping diverse sources of information, anticipating challenges, and engaging and partnering with key business leaders and owners, thereby strengthening Marriott’s competitive advantage through excellence in financial management.


Expected Contributions

       Develop and provide on-going financial reporting and analysis for the Reservations Fund, and support development of the 2019 budget 

       Provide analysis of on-going business decisions and initiatives impacting the Reservations Fund ensuring the right financial approaches and resources are brought to bear on overall business challenges and opportunities.

       Perform financial analysis of actual and future results, by gathering and synthesizing current state data, understanding and modeling future state proposals, and developing presentations that compare data, highlight risks and focuses on qualitative and quantitative issues. 

       Establish processes to proactively identify financial risks to the business and creatively resolve risk.

       Monitor performance of the Reservations Fund against the approved business case, and identify potential business or operational changes impacting assumptions or ability to achieve the business case.

       Provide overall support to the Reservations Finance team on finance integration initiatives as needed, including reporting, forecasts, budgets, cost governance, and business case analyses.


CANDIDATE PROFILE

Experience 

          Minimum of 8 years relevant work experience including data analysis and financial modeling

          Advanced use of Excel including macros 

          Ability to organize and interpret complex, detailed financial information

          Superior analytical skills with keen problem solving ability

          Ability to create succinct executive-level qualitative and quantitative summaries

 

Education or Certification 

          Baccalaureate degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline required

          MBA with Finance concentration or related area preferred


Knowledge and Skills 

          Knowledge of Peoplesoft preferred but not required

          Ability to synthesize large quantities of data

          Knowledge of generally accepted finance methodologies as well Marriott specific finance processes and systems

          Able to translate business needs into operational finance and accounting priorities.

          Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills; able to take large volumes of complex information and present it in a clear and concise manner to senior management, owners and franchisees; able to use data and a cogent problem solving methodology in decision making and impact assessment.
