Job Description
The clay dryer is responsible for drying the dampened clay that is used in Dynamic Ceramics' clay compositions by feeding the clay through a rotary dryer. The main job tasks of this position include, but are not limited to the following.
- Shovel clay that is run through the hammer mill from one side of the hopper to the other when the mixer is ready to dump a load of clay. This happens roughly 14-16 times per day.
- Feed clay from one side of the hopper to the other, on to an auger that feeds the clay on to a conveyor belt.
- Pull barrels of good clay and scrap clay out from underneath the screener when they are full.
- Check clay coming out of the screener multiple times per day to maintain the quality of the clay.
- Follow recipe to make emulsion for the mixer.
- Complete all side work (i.e. grease bearings, keep area swept and clean, maintain dust collection equipment)
- Clay dryer is part of a 2-man crew and must communicate with and take instruction from the mixer.
