POSITION SUMMARY: The Shipping & Receiving/Production Tech is a full-time position working at our Client's facility location in Fremont, CA. The position is spent on 60% on Shipping & Receiving duties and 40% on Production & Assembly. The incumbent must be mechanically-inclined, with 3-5 years of assembly experience and at least 2 years of domestic and international shipping experience.

Shipping & Receiving – 60%
  • Fully capable of performing all Shipping & Receiving functions.
  • Performs deliveries and runs errands, as requested.
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures.
  • Opens containers, using steel cutters, crowbar, claw hammer or other hand tools.
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
  • Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, using hand tools.
  • Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area, using hand truck, electric dolly, or other device.
  • Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination, using hand-operated crane or hoist to move load to destination.
  • Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales or other containers.
  • Loads truck for industrial-truck operator.
  • Lifts heavy objects by hand or using power jack, cleans work area, machines, and equipment, using broom, rags and cleaning compounds.
  • Assist in loading or moving materials and products.
  • Charge forklift battery.
  • Ensure stock is shelves are neat and orderly.
  • Conduct cycle inventory counts.
  • Packs using crates, boxes, containers.
Production/Assembly – 40%
  • Assemble prototype and production products.
  • Trains other Technicians.
  • Performs all repair work with support from the Engineering Department.
  • Uses common testing and measurement instruments.
  • Conducts Quality Control counts and tests – incoming and outgoing.
  • Ensures proper documentation of all production and testing information.
  • Other duties as assigned to promote optimal customer satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 2 – 3 years of shipping & receiving experience
  • 3 – 5 years of technical assembly experience in a Production environment
  • Ability to communicate with freight companies
  • Ability to prepare and coordinate waybills and schedule deliveries
  • Familiar with preparation of international shipping documents
  • Ability to read and understand BOMs and drawings
  • Ability to give clear and concise directions
  • Ability to drive a forklift, a plus
  • Ability to use common hand tools and mechanical equipment
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to details required
  • Quality oriented and able to check own work and the work of others
  • Self-starter and team player
